I kinda have a little off topic question? Why did Mayte have to get kicked out of the NPG when she married Prince? Just because she had the baby? But even after she still wasn't introduced into the band? You can't tell me that Prince would stop her from doing her sexed up dancing just because she was his wife right? I mean is it really that big of a diffrence to have your girlfriend dancing sexy for all the male audiance members and having your wife do it? Is she some sort of object to him. Uggghhh, that seems sooo chavanistic of him!

Apparently It wasn't too far of a stretch. I heard that Prince and Mayte partied hard just like Tommy does. A few things happened that changed that...like Prince becoming a JW meant no more partying. Prince met Mani who didn't do any of that. Mayte never left the lifestyle she was accustomed to. I don't think it had anything to do with musicianship nor spirituality.

Funny, I asked this same question not too long ago...and the answer above was what I got. Take from it what you will. It opened my eyes a tiny bit.

Anyone notice why Prince doesn't do late late night jams anymore?

I can definetly relate to how difficult it is when one part of the couple makes a drastic and overwhelming change and the other doesn't believe in the change and don't like the change that it makes in every day life. wasn't Mayte cheating on Prince also? I thought there was some young NPG intern or something she was seeing on the side.

To be quite honest I think he just didn't like the fact that there were thousands of men (and women I guess) oogling her now that she was his wife. There were many, many posts from guys to the various fan groups back then talking about how if you stood close enough to the stage you could see all of her business when she bent over and I mean all of it, not just a little ass cheek.

He may have also been of the mind set that he was gaining a spouse to take care of him, not work for him. Remember he's old school. Now if her role in the NPG was that of a keyboard player or something it may have been a different story. But then again, maybe not.

I love Prince for his music but I've become disillusioned with his personality since I was 14, so maybe I can help explain...

Prince: controlling and sometimes a flat-out asshole

Tommy: by all accounts a sweet guy (try reading what he said about his and Mayte's relationship in his book)

When I was on HQ, some got a good thrashing from Meltedman whenever it came down to Mayte and Tommy Lee b/c we didn't supposedly know the real deal he claimed. A lot people told Meltedman that Tommy's record spoke for himself and he said that their were alot of things that hasn't been disclosed about P that we don't know.

The fight with Pamela according to them both (tommy and pam) was she slapped him in the face and he kicked her in the butt. He never physically slapped or hit her. She provoked the entire incident. Tommy NEVER layed a hand on Heather. They are great friends to this day. Yup, he did drugs.... he is not exactly the greatest role model on the planet, I'll admit, but neither is Prince. The only difference is that Tommy does stuff for all to see and Prince sneaks/sneaked around doing his dirt.

I LOVE Prince's music... don't get me wrong... but as for as getting with either of them... I'd take Tommy anyday.
