Does anyone find it unfathmloble that Mayte went form Prince to Tommy Lee? I mean they are so diffrent. Prince is a very spirtual, intelligent, classy person.

Tommy?- Well from what I see of him he is trashy,fake, hollywood, and he had alot of substance abuse problems. I have read Motley Crue's book years ago and I was not particularly impressed with Tommy's personality. I mean he and Nikki Sixx used to have contests to see how long they could not shower before groupies would turn them down for sex. Tommy lost. I think he lasted about six weeks!!!

The only way I can see it is Mayte was probably put in quiet a predicament when Prince left her. I mean she has known Prince since what when she was sixteen, so she basicaly went from her parents to her husband and Prince was a big part of her life, I mean he was with her during critical times when a woman comes of age and develops into herself so I am sure Prince played a big role into who Mayte became.

When her whole world left her she must of felt alone and scared and was on her own now for really the first time! That must have been scary for her, it would have been scary for me! And Tommy was the the complete opposite of Prince...so maybe she was rebelling against everything Prince had taught her about life and had crazy wild sex, parting, meeting people she never hung out with before while she was with Prince????

Does anyone eles think this is the reason she when from Prince to 'Tommy??

I was really surprised to hear she was dating Tommy Lee.
IMO, I think he's ugly, crass and dare I say, trashy.
As far as wild crazy sex with Prince, though, Mayte did say Prince was conventional when it came to sex - no jungle gyms, etc and he was her first and tommy her second.
Tommy did show he had a softer side, though, in his autobiography that he published this summer. He talked about mayte fondly, whihc surprised me.

i get the impression that most of the world outside of prince think its weird that she dated him.....and think dating Tommy is normal.

the guy is freakin hot....a true rock star.....so what if he is a lil on the skinny side..so is prince. and he has the dong to make up for it..

I love Prince for his music but I've become disillusioned with his personality since I was 14, so maybe I can help explain...

Prince: controlling and sometimes a flat-out asshole

Tommy: by all accounts a sweet guy (try reading what he said about his and Mayte's relationship in his book)

Apparently It wasn't too far of a stretch. I heard that Prince and Mayte partied hard just like Tommy does. A few things happened that changed that...like Prince becoming a JW meant no more partying. Prince met Mani who didn't do any of that. Mayte never left the lifestyle she was accustomed to. I don't think it had anything to do with musicianship nor spirituality.

Funny, I asked this same question not too long ago...and the answer above was what I got. Take from it what you will. It opened my eyes a tiny bit.

Anyone notice why Prince doesn't do late late night jams anymore?

This may be off the subject but how come Prince does not keep a lady long? I know he used to go out on them. It would be hard for me to except that also. He is suppose to be a sex goddess but they all seem to leave.. Sometimes I think we may be seeing him as more than he may be.

I think Mayte "left" as P was becoming a JW, and she didn't want to be. He was also leaving his Partying ways too. I am sure Mani hanging around couldn't have been good for the relationship. I mean here is a gal...educated, doting, caring, yes Prince, willing to be a JW, fertile, no drugs...sound like a good choice to me.

I can definetly relate to how difficult it is when one part of the couple makes a drastic and overwhelming change and the other doesn't believe in the change and don't like the change that it makes in every day life. My husband and I went thru something similar. He too believes like JW not to celebrate holidays, and just THAT one issue causes so much turmoil in our relationship. We have managed so far, but now we have a kid and that takes on a whole different slant on things. We may not as a couple survive it. Now, if Prince was going thru similar conflict with Mayte, and Mani was around, agreeing with Prince and appeared to be everything that Prince was trying to change Mayte in, it is the obvious choice to stop beating your head against the wall (changing Mayte) and just go with the finished product (Mani). I don't agree with adultery (people please don't play games with that statement... adultery is sexual activity with someone other than your spouse, PERIOD). I don't agree with adultery, but it may have been the best for all, Mayte is free to live life the way SHE believes and wants, Prince is able to be in line with his new religious beliefs with a spouse who is compliant, and Mani gets her idol.

I guess I have a hard time believing that Mayte would step out on Prince first. Let's face it, Prince can and have had MANY Mayte replacements, who could replace Prince?? No one in their right mind will leave a $$rich husband who is treating the ground she walks on like "holy ground" (to quote Prince in The One , unless there is some of equal status waiting in the wings. Mayte is no fool, and her mother who orchestrated the whole meeting between P and Mayte is no fool either. I think Mayte was forced to a point of no choices.

I also believe (imho) that her grief and sadness following the baby's death drove a wedge between them. Prince strikes me as someone who avoids dealing with unpleasant feelings. So if Mayte was stuck in grief, in order to make himself feel better, just stay away from her and her sadness and be around people who are positive and upbeat.

I kinda have a little off topic question? Why did Mayte have to get kicked out of the NPG when she married Prince? Just because she had the baby? But even after she still wasn't introduced into the band? You can't tell me that Prince would stop her from doing her sexed up dancing just because she was his wife right? I mean is it really that big of a diffrence to have your girlfriend dancing sexy for all the male audiance members and having your wife do it? Is she some sort of object to him. Uggghhh, that seems sooo chavanistic of him!
