I would like to think that there wouldnt be too many (not dwelling to much on the past) ....But if I had to pick one in addition to the obvious, I might tend to agree with SOS. "Life is a Bowl of Cherries, but this is just the pits"

You're grasping at straws...Wendy & Lisa don't strike me as the type of people to dwell on things...I would limit thier songs about Prince to the first lp.The ladies are about growth in thier music and I am sure they had moved on and got what they needed out of their system.

now that i think of it there aint nothing wrong with them writing about prince today..heck, prince wrote "In This Bed I Scream" many many years later..
they had a special relationship...probably more of a bond then any non-platonic relationship they've had....aint nothing wrong with them still writing about it. Cause when i listen to "I Wanna Get On" i hear Prince all over it. Space for sale...

I've never posted, but I was actually thinking about this the other day. I, too, always wonder if Porch Swing is about Prince when I hear it. I personally think that the whole first album is about Prince, and/or Wendy and Lisa's time with the Revolution. I have heard some of Friendly Fire on Girl Bros. radio, and I always wonder if the song "So High" is about Prince, because I wonder if the line, "Just go to our garden" is a reference to Roadhouse Garden. Also, in the same song the lines, "If you run away my dear/I will love you anyway/you're so afraid that love will bring you sorrow/it's alright, make me wonder. As far as the idea that the more recent albums couldn't contain any Prince references because the girls have moved on-- I would tend to disagree. Unless I am mistaken, I was under the impression that the material on Friendly Fire was a precursor to Girl Bros. and written in the mid-nineties. Not only would that time period mark roughly a decade from their departure from the Revolution, but also, and perhaps more significantly, they were dealing with the death of a loved one, an event that prompts great reflection upon one's life and relationships; and the Prince/Wendy/Lisa relationship seemed to be quite a significant, both professionally and personally. But this is just the humble opinion of a first-time poster.

wow...great first post there 23bee...
interesting observation..... why do i think "I want to get on" is about prince: "Ive waited so long....I know what I want...I want to move on" and "Once upon a time you gave me love, once upon a time.... everything you'd touch would turn to gold, once upon a time..... I want to get on" Space for sale...

Thank you all very much. "I Wanna Get On" just came on and I don't know if it's just that the seed has been planted, but I can definitely hear what SOSGemini hears. "Broken innocence..., once upon a time,". Hehe, maybe it's just wishful thinking that they still wander through each other's thoughts, and are sending the occasional sonic love letter back and forth from LA to Minneapolis.

Joining in on the kudos for a great first post. I too, don't think it unreasonable that Wendy & Lisa have continued to explore their relationship with Prince beyond their first album. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

And why wouldn't they? Prince is a wonderful person. It just proves that Prince did as much for them as they did for him. The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.
