Ok does anyone know for sure if they were a couple? I heard she wasn't a serious girlfriend of his but they had a brief fling during the filming of Purple Rain. Somehow I am inclined to belive it because well don't all actors doing intimate sceanes together end up getting attracted to eachother and secondly HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THAT WOMAN"S BODY???!!!

Also what I really want to know what happened to their work relationship? It sounds as if they had a falling out and Prince told her she would never make it without him. I read this with two diffrenet sources. Did she drop Appollonia 6 and the Prince camp or did he lose interest in her? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM??

Let's be real,Apples didn't get her role in Purple Rain for her singing ability.Apollonia 6 was only gonna go so far,so long. She served her purpose so to speak and then Prince concentrated on his albums with the Revolution,Sheila E, the Family,UTCM,Susannah and those sexy,exotic ...er..uh.."song inspirations" that worked on post PR as Apples tried to further her career in Hollywood.

Prince wanted a new front for Vanity 6, along with a lead starrer for Purple Rain. When Apollonia was cast in the role, she would commit to a one album deal only. That, coupled with her limited vocal talents, led Prince to pull "The Glamorous Life" and "Take Me With U" as Apollonia 6 tracks. Apollonia then played the role in the film, cut the one album, made some promo appearances, and walked away at the end of her obligation -- no harm, no foul.

Oh, and kudos on spelling her name correctly in the title of your thread. 1 P, 2 L's. It's my pet peeve.

P used her for what he needed at the time, which was to fill in Vanity's spot in the film and album. There was NO chemistry between the two on film. To o.g. I really wished Vanity could have played in the movie, I am sure her character would have been different. vanity would have toyed more with the guys Morris and Prince, than Apples, who seemed like a total victim and exploited. Vanity would have been the exploited. this would have changed the plot for sure.

Nope,that was Apollonia.In the fall 1985 TV season,she played the love interest of Lorenzo Lama's character.She played a singer,and performed several songs on the show ("Sweet Country Lovin"..."Don't Let The Night Grow Cold",etc).Her role didn't last for the entire season though,and she was soon written off.

Mayte was beautiful yet simple (by all accounts I have read.) Her trump card was Prince was ready to settle experience domestic bliss (with a sex queen with a heart of gold... lucky him!) and then Mayte got pregnant... all the more in the way of experiencing domestic bliss.
To me, Apples was an actress hired to play a part in a movie... PERIOD.
