Mica Paris rocks!!!

Oh my stars and garters. One of the cd's i found yesterday i my great used cd buyout was Mica Paris Contribution.

DAMN!!! Her version of "If I Love You Tonight" kicks but!!!! Way better then Mayte's version.

Anyone else in to her? Other album recommendations? And is this her only collaberation with Prince?

After four releases, Mica is long-overdue to put-out new material. I am a huge fan of her's, from the beginning. Each album shows a different side and it is difficult to pick a favorite.

"So Good" was her debut. It kinda sounds a bit dated now; drum machines were sooo 80's. Then came "Contribution," a concept album that features 'If I Love You Tonight.' And YES - her version is much better than Mayte's. It has a sense of soul about it that Mayte's lacked. In fact, the entire disc is very soulful! Her follow-up, "Whisper a Prayer," featured a more modern dance sound. I guess the 90's brought better drum machines... who knows. But there are a number of danceable pop tunes on it and the lyrics and phrasing are exceptional. Her latest release, "Black Angel," has an even deeper urban groove. It came out over five years ago, although I am not sure it was ever domestically released in the U.S. If it did, it was a year or more after its origianl release. (I had the import for what seemed like years before I saw others in the store without the "import" sticker on them.) It features a hot remake of 'Stay' and a duet with Boy George on the title song. Don't worry -- he is barely heard as a backup singer and doesn't detract from the song. He actually wrote it. Other than a "Best of" compilation, nothing has been released since "Black Angel."

She has been host of a radio show in London the last couple of years. She is very beautiful and charasmatic. I do wish she'd have a new album soon. Her unique style could easily be copied and I'm afraid someone else will come along and steal her steam. She is the original!

Agreed that in the 80s she was a fresh sound, but she opted to appear on the dreadful "hit me baby one more time" on british TV a couple of weeks back ( the show has old stars trying to get to a grand fina/record deal by singing one of their classics and a modern song - phone/text vote) and One Temptation was decent live though a bit pitchy but she did a gospel version of Angels by Robie Williams and I hate to say it but IMO she was terrible, off key and frankly I cringed. They did mention her brief flirtation with the Prince world and in the bio bit they said (with glee) that she was approached by Prince to join his band but turned him down! hmm

Anyway sorry if this post is a bit negative but thought I would add this seeing as she has just been on the telly smile

Agreed!
I couldnt believe my ears and eyes when Mica turned up on the horrendous
'HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME' - believe me, I wanted to hit every damn
'singer' on the show!!!!!

Mica has a great talent but in my eyes she has lost a lot of credibility by
appearing on this rubbish. Surely her career cant need that much of a leg up
to have to resort to appearing on shows like this?

I think you're right about the arrogant attitude though is Beverly Knight that way too? she tends to come accross as quite nice

You can also hear Mica on Mark Morrison's album "The Return of The Mack", She is on the track Tears For You",There is also a song she did called "Young Soul Rebels". I still think the first album is the best and last was good too.

Anybody is better than Mayte! She couldn't sing for her dinner! (LOL) She was just a pretty girl and a good dancer. That's it.
