I agree. I felt P was a little more than color struck and he wanted to drive the point home about brothers with white girls. Which I feel was very foolish on his part. I think he wanted to throw it in black girl's faces without considering that he would lose their following. Which he ended up doing to some degree anyway. Only then (around UTCM) period did he come back with Cat and Boni on his Signs period to counter the backlash. He wanted to appear like he was "down" with the sistas, so he could regain some of that black female audience.

P was raised by black woman I am sure it bothered him that his black female fans were going to be mad if he stepped out in public with Susan.

I think this song might have been about her and I always thought that is way he kept their relationship on the down low as far as the public was concerned.

Just my take on the song once I found out about Susan years later it kind of made sense that he would write a song about the situation.

It makes him a little bit of a coward he should have felt free to be out in public with her.

I bought "Ice Cream Castles"when it was first released because it was associated with Prince."Jungle Love" and "The Bird"were featured in "Purple Rain"so they were automatic hits.When I first saw "Ice Cream Castles"the video,my first thought was "where are Jimmy,Terry,and Monti?"The song itself really didn't move meand the album seemed to be missing something.After "What Time Is It?"Castles was a let down.
