The Time Live at the tabernacle 4-2-05 review Went and saw the Time at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Ga on Saturday April 2, 2005. This was my 23rd time seeing the Masters of Cool and as usual they put on a fantastic show.
It was looking like I might not make it to the show. Thursday night after work, I was driving home in a bad thunderstorm and out of nowhere I ran into several feet of water. After a few hours, I got it pulled out and towed to the dealer. I called the next morning and much to my horror they told me they were going to have to total it. Needless to say I wasn't happy, especially since I bought it brand new a year and a half ago. I called Jason that evening to see what the deal was and it was looking like we weren't going to go, but We decided we would go ahead and go since we already had the tickets. Saturday morning I went and got a rental car and off we went. We made it to Atlanta in under five hours and actually found the hotel with no problems(thank God for mapquest). Got ready for the show and bailed. We arrived at the Tabernacle shortly after 7 p.m. and got our traditional spot in front of Tori's mic. The floor was pretty empty, but the upper level with all the seats was already full.As it got later in the evening, the floor filled up and the joint was packed when the show started We then had to endure 2 1/2 hours of radio personalities and a DJ boring us to death. I did see something I never thought I would see, Line dancing at a Time concert. WTF. About 9:30 p.m. the torture finally ended and the band was introduced. The Dat intro started and the band came and took their positions. After it ended, Tori launched into Ho Parade and it was on. Unfortunately, he was having some problems with his cord and the guitar would cut out. He got the problem resolved after awhile. Morris and Jerome hit the stage as the band switched to Wild and loose doing all the classic posing and primping. Here is the setlist: 1. DAT Intro 2. Ho Parade 3. Wild and Loose 4. The Stick 5. Fishnet 6. The Oak tree 7. Jerk Out 8. Get it Up 9. Cool 10. 777-9311 11. Gigolos get Lonely too 12. If the Kid can't make you come 13. Ice Cream castles 14. The Bird Encore 15. Jungle Love Tori spotted us pretty much right from the beginning. We had a speaker right in front of us that was only putting out his playing which is really cool since I like Guitar : ) It made us notice even more his fantastic work on stuff like Gigolos get lonely too and really brought it out on If the kid can't make you come. When there was a break in the action, he came by and shook hands with us and several other people in our section. Jerome spotted me pretty early as well. As usual he was all over the stage, climbing on the speakers to acknowledge the upper section and messing around with Jellybeans kit. He messed it up early in the show and the roadies had to work on it several times before they got it right. He came down next to us when he was picking the girls to get on stage. He grabbed my hand and asked me how I was doing. He went past Jason, but doubled back when he recognized him and greeted him as well. The first half of the show was performed medley style. We got the full version of Cool, but not the extended guitar on the end of 777-9311 unfortunately. When Gigolos got over, I was hoping for the Walk and those two rock numbers I love so much, but it went into The Kid can't make you come. Tori does some fierce blues inspired playing on this section and Morris and Jerome talk their shit, but I really dread it when they go into this. Especially since it leads into Ice cream Castles which is my least favorite Time song ever. That and it takes up 30 minutes of the show. I told Jason we were fucked if they did the Bird next and I was right. Jerome and Morris were doing the what song yall wanna hear bit and of course we know what's coming. Jerome kept his distance since we were screaming the skillet. Tori was saying something to us, but we couldn't hear him. The band left and came back ripped into Jungle love. The show ended around 11:00 p.m. Tori came by and acknowledged me by name which is always cool. After the band left, we hung out for awhile until they decided to kick everybody out of the club. I'm really glad we made the trip, I can't think of anything better to make me forget the problems of the real world than a show by the mother fucking Time!!

It'd be great if they worked on their set list. It seems every time I see a set list for The Time, it's exactly the same. Do they know they've got other songs to choose from? Do they remember how to write new stuff?? I love The Time, but I can't get excited about seeing them live when it's the same thing over and over and over and over... -->> This Space 4 Rent <<--

I know exactly what you mean. That was the exact same setlist as when i saw them in october. they have played most of the songs off the first 3 albums live at one point or another and about half of pandemonium as well. It would be awesome to see stuff they have never played like the skillet or I don't wanna leave you or some of the stuff they haven't played in forever like Chocolate or even a few of Morris's solo songs. Better yet something New, but until Morris decides to change something, thats what they stick with

it would be cool to hear a song like "I don't wanna leave you" or "after hi school" live - the latter I heard during their show opening for Prince on the "Controversy" tour..
other than here on the org, is there a website - something other than ticketmaster.com - that gives their upcoming tour dates? I haven't seen Morris & The Time since '99.. I'll see you tonight..

I really don't understand why they don't release "new" material. That baffles the hell outta me.
Also.I think I read somewhere that Tori was either gonna join Fishbone or maybe play with them part-time.That might be cool. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"
