I read so much on this board about Prince's love for Susannah Melvoin, but I really never paid close attention to the songs that were meant for her. Does anyone recall what year/s they were involved and what Prince songs were about her? Wasn't he involved with her around Under the Cherry Moon time or no? Was she the one that took his eye off Sheila?

It's a song that Prince recorded that was far too expressive and emotional for the public to hear. It really showed his sadness over the departure of Susannah from his life. His sound engineer begged him not to erase it from the tape it was on but he did anyways.The title was a reference to one of Prince's friends who was a dancer in the band at the time Wally Stafford.

someone mentioned a few weeks back that that song was first written around 79-80. obviously he tinkered with it through out the years (and wendy and lisa added their touch) but who knows who that song was intended for. or if he changed the lyrics to suit their relationship.

also of interest, someone else mentioned taht prince was seeing a bevy of woman during that timeperiod. and the reality is he might have been telling wendy and lisa (his bandmates and coherts in crime at the time) these songs were all written for susannah just to cover his ass....

NC2U could very well be 4 Susannah but I wondered if perhaps it was inpsired by Kim Upsher. I had read that when Prince got his 1st house she came by a lot, planted flowers and made his house a home. I don't know 4 sure 'cause I wasn't there but I read that Strange Relationship was 1st done in '82/'83. If that's true I doubt it could be about Susannah since they had just met around that time, things couldn't have gone wrong that quick. My guess would be another tune inspired by Susan Moonsie. They had a Strange Relationship so 2 speak.
