Not that i know of.
"Romance 1600" is mainly Sheila on vocals & percussions, Eddie M. on horns (apart from a whole horn section on "Yellow"), & Prince on all other instruments, + a few background vocals by Sheila's musicians. The only exception is "Merci For The Speed Of A Mad Clown In Summer", which has been composed & recorded by Sheila & her band with no involvement by Prince.
It's possible, though, that some of the instrumental credits on the album might b true: as 4 the Time or V6/A6 albums, Prince might have asked a few times 2 some of Sheila's musicians 2 play a line or a solo here & there, but that's impossible 2 know 4 sure, & it would remain small contributions...
I don't think that neither Brownmark or Mazarati were involved at any level on this project...

so what do you know about "the glamorous life" music-video. in the CD-booklet they say: "..the LP features the smash hit in the title track, which was also the subject of one of the most provocative videos of the year (1984)." does anyone know the video, and is it really provocative?

Sheila E. (her self-titled third album) is definitely her best project. If you have to choose between the two you listed, I'd go with Romance 1600 -- to me, it's the better CD overall.

You can't really go wrong with either one, though... music

I think the label was just trying to be "provacative" itself. It's a great video and I can still remember the first time I saw it and it got me real curious as to who that gorgeous woman was singing and playing a type of drums I'd never seen (later I learned about timbales!).... and I soon got the album and it becamem one of my favorites of all time! smile

I think you can watch the video here:

Both are incredible, must have purple albums. Prince's songwriting and production on both records is stellar and Sheila's drums/percusssion are top class. Her voice is definitely good enough to carry both records and I consider each of them a Sheila/Prince classic. I love "Glamorous Life" and "Love Bizarre" and alround adore this period of Prince's output.

I'd choose TGL over 1600. "TGL," "The Belle of St. Mark," "Oliver's House," "Noon Rendezvous" and "Next Time Wipe The Lipstick Off Your Collar" are gems. 1600 was cool with "Toy box" "A Love Bizarre" and "Bedtime Story."
Desire, it covers our faces
It happens in curious places
Your body, it covers my tower
Ecstasy is ours

Yes, because of this song: "The Belle of St. Mark" it brought me so much good things back in my memorie.
I got both CD's from a fam and didn't knew that that singer singing that song is Sheyla E. and that she had to do with Prince! I know that only since 1 month far! lol Mad what!?
