Shall We Dance -Brownmark Just discovered this little gem on NPG Audio # 7 and I can't stop playing it.
It reminds me of a neptune track for some reason, with the hand claps in the back and synth loop. That bass line is not ba either. Any of u guys feeling this track? 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

It's a cool song. Got a nice beat. Pretty addictive. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

Great song. Brown Mark is another one of my favorites from the Prince camp. His work with Mazarati and Lakeside was great also. Andy is a four letter word.

Did Prince write or produce it or both? Onion Juice appears courtesy of Streethop.com

It was on his second album - 'Good Feeling' - easy to find! Shall We Dance is, from memory, written and produced by Prince.
Incidentally the album also includes Bang Bang, which although it wasn't written by Prince does include him on backing vocals. Oh, and did I mention that the rest of the album is sh*t..??!!

You know, I downloaded this track and I LOVE IT!!! I must play it at least once a day and it's just a good song!
(sings) "ooh trip/you're really neat/maybe you and me/we can dance/to the beat/maybe you and me/we could feel each other's heat/tell me baby/shall we dance" "haters wanna hate/lovers wanna love/I don't even want/none of the above/I want to piss on you/yes I do/I wanna pee you..."

GREAT underrated sexy/mystical P song !!! would have sounded great with P on vocals on "Batman". The drum programming is just AMAZING, as are the ones from "The Future", "Trust" & "Lemon Crush".
Prince wrote it & plays more or less all instruments on it with a little help from Levi. P at his best !!!

BrownMark's first album )which is almost never mentioned on here) was tight. Bang Bang was the best song from the second one. Shall We Dance was cool, but Bang, bang trumped it in my opinion. He had a couple of other nice jams on the album. Its not a throwaway, but Mazarati's album proved that when Brownmark wants to, he can rival anybody out there in the funk rock department.

Prince sang BANG BANG, but his vocals were taken off and replaced with Brown Mark's. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018.
