Did Mazarati make a second album???

I love their self titled debut. Especially Strawberry Lover and She's Just That Kind of Lady. Just wondering did they make another album together or go their seperate ways after this?

YES...without Terry Casey as the lead vocalist. It was on Motown.

They did make a 2nd album but with a different lineup. The singer may have been different. I'm not sure if it was even released in the US. Some promo 12-inchers were released and I've seen Japanese editions of their second album. It's garbage though, very weak. Bernadette Cooper from Klymaxx produced it and I don't know what she was thinking cause it's terrible. Don't waste your time looking for it. Instead try and find some live shows of the original band, they were great live.

Wrong. Terry Casey was still the lead vocalist on their second album. About half of the band were from the Paisley Park days, albeit without the ridiculous clothes and make-up. I picked up a vinyl copy of it a few years back for about $1 in New York (sold it for $300 on eBay recently!); I've never heard of a Japanese edition of the album, but the one I had was Canadian and I've also seen a few Canadian copies on CD.
I agree that they were great live; I have some videos of shows they did somewhere, and they were pretty energetic!

That is NOT Terry Casey on "The Saga Of A Man".

You're wrong! I had this album on vinyl and he was clearly pictured and named on the back sleeve. So let's see:

1) It sounds like him
2) His name is on the sleeve
3) His picture is on the sleeve

I conclude that it must be him.

I rest my case, m'lud.

Besides, would anyone go out of their way to sound like him? He wasn't exactly the best singer to come out of the Paisley Park camp, was he...

It was called "Mazarati 2". Not having the record or artwork anymore, I can't post pics of the sleeve. The front sleeve was exceptionally cheesy, with a badly drawn picture of a driver driving what was meant to be a Mazarati car. The back sleeve had credits and pics of the band, all looking a bit more manly than on the first album sleeve. From my recollection, Brown Mark produced about 4 of the 9 tracks ("Don't Leave Me Baby", the B-side of "100 MPH", was one of these tracks but in a very slightly remixed, not re-recorded form).
It was actually an OK album. I originally got a copy which had been taken from a DAT of the album. I also have about 9 out-takes including covers of "Satisfaction" and "Come Together".

From the way I understand it,BrownMark simply took Mazarati with him to Motown in 1987.He signed his own solo deal (he released two albums of his own) and produced the second Mazarati album as well.I think Bernadette Cooper produced a few tracks too.The album, titled 'Mazarati II',was released in 1989.I remember the first two tracks were titled "Words" and "Saga Of A Man",but I've never actually heard the album or seen it.It disappeared without a trace!

Yes, Bernadette Cooper produced part of the project (of Klymaxx fame), the record went nowhere since no one found the band interesting on the first release. With the exception of their minor success with Player's Ball and 100 MPH, I don't recall if Stroke got any airplay (I know it was a single.) Besides, they were way too ugly to be successful...bad clothes and jheri curls brothas doing funk-rock looking like trannys...That has never gone over well.

In my area, the first Mazarati album was well-recieved.In spring/summer 1986,our main R&B station played the hits "Player's Ball","100 MPH" and "Stroke".I think there was alot of potential for this band. But I agree with you concerning their outfits.Their look was perhaps a little too "glam" for a funk band.BrownMark later complained "Prince made them look like that,he put them in those clothes".

I've never seen a copy of the mysterious second album, even back in 1989 when i used to buy everything out of Minneapolis! Not sure it was ever officially released - maybe copies were distributed to radio staions etc only?

I do have 2 12"s from it - The Saga Of A Man and The Woman Thang - both of which have loads of mixes and both of which I only listened to once! If anyone's interested in them then org note me....
