Will somebody that bought Dez's new album please write us a review? I hear between the music and the packaging it's worth the $50 but I'd still like to read a more detailed review.

Well, I actually don't think it's worth $50, and that's based solely on the packaging. The booklet is a badly photocopied/printed A4 size, simply stapled together. The slimline DVD case is flimsy and bends - I can see this breaking if you play the discs a lot. The "artwork"/covers for the case is once again badly printed and unevenly trimmed - looks like it was done with a home guillotine. On my copy, the limited edition # (which is just handwritten on the inside cover of the book) is smudged! I'm livid that they didn't even have the courtesy to re-do that. Also, I was supposed to receive Oneman as a bonus for buying through eBay, however it was missing in my package (which took an inordinately long time to arrive and 2 emails for a status report/update before reply). I have been assured that it is on the way, although it has now been another week and no sign. Finally, the discs are cdr, not pressed. Unnaceptable in a "collector's set", especially considering how cheap it is to get discs professionally pressed (with 2 colour artwork). Also, there have been at least 6 reports of faulty disc 1 so far, all of which have been promised replacements. Good points? Well, the info in the book is interesting. As to the music - I can't give a detailed review as I have only quickly scanned disc 1 to check that it plays, however from what I have heard it's good old cheesey 80s rock. Now, I have no doubt that Dez is an honest guy and he cares about his fans. However, you really wouldn't know this from this set - badly packaged, badly manufactured and badly organised (although when problems have been reported they have been responded to/sorted out quickly and with good grace). It all appears to be a home made in-house production, and personally I think the extra investment to produce a more professional package would have been a nicer way to thank the fans - the profit margin would not have been significanly reduced. Sorry if this upsets an Dez fans, but it really is a sub-par effort. This one is purely for die-hard collectors or Dez fans. (PS - sound quality of Modernaire, which let's face it is the track that most folks want. Dez states that this was taken from tape as he has no other source. Fine. However, someone has already tweaked the track with impressive results and uploaded to the binaries, proving that a little extra initial effort could have given a better result) [Edited 3/25/05 2:22am] All orgnotes and emails requesting trades or how to acquire bootleggage will be ignored. - The ThreadKiller -

yes, I agree with the look of the package..(it could have been better) the music on the 2 disc CD set is alot of fun....
it is what it is...a fun trip back in time..... I REALLY enjoyed the set...and the liner notes are very well done... could it have "looked" a little better..sure.. but the music is still worth listening 2... also.. Dez's cd "oneman" that he released a few year back is VERY good also.. and again...."Dez isn't paying me 2 say this"....
