Greazy Meal - Universe's Baby Don't know if this has been discussed before in this forum, but I wanted to see what anyone out there thought of the new (i.e. end of 2004) album by Grezy Meal, Universe's Baby. I've loved this band since their first album, Visualize World Greaze.
To date, their first album is still my favorite, but all four of their albums have some really high moments (including the Digitalize World Greaze remix album). Universe's Baby is definitely worth your time -- the title track, M.L.I.C.P., Keep It Together, and Goodbye Everything are the standouts for me. The band has an old-school soul feel that, quite frankly, does a better job of showing off "real music by real musicians" than Musicology did. For those not familiar with the band and their connection to Prince, they're an MPLS-based band that includes former Prince keyboardist Tommy Barbarella (circa 1990-1995). Their website, www.greazymeal.com, has samples of most of their album tracks, along with free mp3 downloads of outtakes and live recordings. Check it out! Julius Collins delivers solid vocals, and his falsetto is flat out kick-ass. They have a bit of a Jamiroquai/Stevie Wonder type feel to them, but their music includes some rock, blues, r&b and soul. They're pretty wide reaching. I have no idea how a band like this doesn't strike it big when you hear stuff like Maroon 5 on the radio. Any other Greazy fans out there? Thank u for the update Doozer - I will check out their music.
Everytime I think of Tommy Barbarella, I keep seeing him flying around the stage on wires as he played his keyboard/guitar! Remember that? "All of me give 2 thee down at your feet ...
The reassurance in your rhythm speaks 2 me." -------------------------------------------------------- "I wanna hold U, wrap U up in lace. And I wanna kiss U, kiss U all over your face."

It's worth picking up -- you can order it online through...there's a link there for the Electric Fetus in MN where the album is currently stocked. They were friendly and prompt with delivery of the disc, too. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

I just watched that the other night...Tommy B flying as he MOCKS playing the keyboard and Prince lip syncs (to Billy Jack Bitch I think)...it was embarassing! In any case, the Greazy Meal discs are great -- I'd recommend 'em to anyone. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife.
