Tribute to Larry Graham, from me! Show some love for him on this thread!

I've never really posted in this forum, but I want to say a special hello, and thank you to Larry Graham. Larry's positive messages, funky bass, and great vocals have always been a large influence in my musical and social life. Larry is a great guy and is very underrated. Sly and the Family Stone's grooves would not have been the same without Larry's vocals and bass playing, and Larry has made Prince's concerts and music even funkier! (Prince was funky on his own, but with Larry, you just have to make the "funk face"). Watch the "Rave un2 the Year 2000" DVD and you will see just how funky Larry is. Even as Larry gets older, the funk is always funkier! The song "Water" is one of my favorite jams of all time, and I LOVE the message!

To you, Larry, I give my sincere respect and friendship. I hope to meet up with you someday!

Peace,
Jason Dodson

Now, everyone here at P.Org, show some love to Larry and post some nice funky thangs about him and to him!

I've always loved Larry's music and really enjoyed watching him play with Prince numerous times. Plus he has a peace that is very evident. Nothing but love for Larry.

On the song "One in a Million" Larry gives one of the best vocal performances of ALL TIME (and that's saying a lot coming from me). His vocals on that song are perfection and deserved a Grammy.

Also, he seems like a really sweet and cool guy. He would probably make a great mentor.

I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I tiny story to share...

I won't forget this vivid night.
I remember it well, walking into this very nice place, awaiting whatever was going to happen. No anxiety no frustration just peacefulness and calm awaiting with what was going to take place. Out of nowhere the lights come up and there is Larry Graham, playing his base (bass). What a nice feeling from this man I got. Calm, peaceful and wise all at a glace from just looking at him. A man enjoying playing music and sharing PEACE. What a sensation from a spirit "huh?" pretty darn admirable. Glad to have ventured that night into his world with others enjoying an evening of great music and abundant PEACE. Something the world lacks in giving freely. Now a memory for me but still remembered with a smile.

Thank you Larry Graham and thank you for the man who had him play in his house.

I always loved SLY & THE FAMILY STONE. Larry is remarkable. His voice... His bass... His spirituality. There is peace in seeing him perform singmia. Watching him. He was fantastic with Prince on the RAVE dvd. (as was Lenny K) He's still awesome 2 day. My fav song of the familys was HOT FUN IN THE SUMMER TIME. But they all were cool & when he performs with Prince 2day, they shine.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses
