Why do you guys think Prince was so into Mayte. Besides the fact that she was a total babe what eles do you think he liked about her? Why was Mayte his favorite protegee at the time? (I am assuming that line in I love you but I don't trust you anymore was about her) He sure spent alot of time on her and created alot of prodjects for her. Any thoughts?

I don't think we can fully ever know the answer to this because only Prince

knows for sure. None of us knows who Mayte really is. When P met her she was

young and in a different stage in her life. Honestly I think P really just fell

for her. For her beauty and her persona. I think at the time they were great

together.

guys come on.....be nice. what does age have 2 do with anything.....so now age dictates.....a number of 2 digits.....how much 2 persons have in common? There is a few people i no that are very young in age but their minds are full of knowlwdge and maturity. as the late Aaliyah said " age ain't nuthin but a number".

She was born November 12 1972 I think.

Of course we won't probubly ever know. But I felt that Mayte had such an innocence and pureness about her that he couldn't help falling in love with. I felt that their chemistry togeather seemed to be something that had been taken to another level. The other's he probubly had some deep feelings for as well but they may have just been mostly for fun and games. When he met Mayte, I think the more time they spent togeather the more he got to see her for who she really was and he probubly was usted to women wanting him because of who he is and what he can give them. At first I'm sure she did find him attractive and of course she knew what he could do for her as far as her career, but she probubly didn't see him as someone who she would come to love so deeply let alone someone who would have such an impact on her life. What ever they had I think was more than real and you could see that they were very much in love just by the way they were around each other. I only wish they hadn't split up. I don't know Mani and I'm not a hater of anyone, I wish him all of the happiness in the world but I don't see that shine in his eyes the way he had with Mayte.

I think Gav hit the nail on the head. Prince seem to have a fetish for young looking women, and Mayte was a girl. For some men, there is nothing more enticing than a woman who is young, attractive (exotic in the way he likes), naive, easily influenced, vulnerable, controlable, and inexperienced in life. She was probably very dependent on him, and he liked that because he was in control. PLUS she was a virgin. I think that is why he became so enchanted with Mayte.

IMO, she began to get older and mature as we all do, and finally realized that there was more to life than being controlled by a rich rock star. She developed a backbone, got some balls (excuse the expression), and got enough courage to actually tell Prince no. She began to grow less dependent on him and that pissed him off because she got to the point where she didn't want to "obey" him. I'm willing to bet THAT is why he suggested he didn't know her and couldn't trust her. Simply because she wouldn't do as she was told. Then to add fuel to the fire, Prince blamed her for the death of their baby, when it was more likely due to something genetic from him (I won't go there because I don't want to be attacked, but take a look at some of his baby pictures).

This is all my peronal opinion of course, but I'll bet I'm not too far off.

But your theory would be corretct if Mani wasn't such a strong woman and I would hardly say she obey's Prince at all-from people's impressions of her it looks like she wears the pants in the family. How could he leave Mayte for developing a backbone and then going to a woman who would regularly give him a piece of her mind? Oh goddanmit how could he leave MAYTE????

I would have to say it was because she was beautiful, musically talented, and a normal girl (not a celeb). I would assume that being a celebrity, it would be refreshing to meet a normal, down to earth chick:)
