Is there any band member you just hated(or would hate) to see go? Who is it and why?

"Hate" is such a strong word...but I don't care much for Renato. He's that "wizard" type of keyboard player that can program all kinds of sounds and play four different parts simultaneously etc - but he's really not very funky...

Dez definately for me. Dez was the one that I always watched in concert. When Dez left and Wendy came in, well... it was ..different. The saving grace to me was BrownMark. He was more featured on the Purple Rain tour, which was cool. But my favorite lineup was definately Controversy, 1999 tours. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Mayte, sorry she was one of the dancers that helped inspire me to be a dancer and start taking dance classes when I was younger.

I hated to see Andre Cymone go but I don't blame him for leaving. I enjoyed the hell out of his solo work also.
I also hated to see Dez Dickerson go. I wish "Modernairre" had been released during the "Purple Rain" era. Seems like once these two guys were gone, and also the break-up of The Time, Prince didn't have any of the hard jamming motherfuckers around him any more to influence him and keep his own ass throwing down hard. Andy is a four letter word.

I remember when Dez left and I am still sad about it. He was the single most influential band member.

My choice is Wendy and Lisa. Prince's music was much more complete in general when they were with him. I think if they had stayed in the band longer, some of his really bad decisions wouldn't have been made. Prince needs someone to ground him sometimes. [Edited 3/3/05 7:31am]

If history dictates what the future brings, Rhonda is next because she has been around the longest. Same thing happened to Morris Hayes. Prince seems to like to have one or two holdovers from one band to the next. But the cycles seem to be there. I hated to see the ENTIRE first NPG go. Michael, Tommy, Sonny....Whoa!

Replacing Michael B with Kirky J... OUCH! I don't know, maybe Michael wanted out, but Kirky J of all people?
also worth a mention: -Replacing live horns with sampled horns as he did on the Gold tour -Ditching Cat Clover - I think she brought so much energy to the SOTT/Lovesexy tours -Replacing Matt Fink with Tommy Barbarella - I'm not denying his choice, sure Fink was getting on and Tommy was probably a more versatile player (and had "the look"), but it really was a sign of the end of the "classic Prince" era 1979-1990 I guess out his current band, I'd agree that it would be hard to replace Rhonda and John Blackwell Prince always works with amazing musicians, and he's such a great band leader that his bands are always the FUNKIEST in the world at any given time, so I don't hold too many grudges! Ha! With Kirk on the skins, you'd think Michael left the band a half hour before a concert.
