HOW DID SHEILA E AND PRINCE FINALLY END? I know they were romantically involved for most of the '80's and from what I've read, she was pretty much in love with him with the intentions of marrying him. But when did they end? I know they're friends now, but was there ever a point where they weren't on good terms? I've never heard the end of this story and I'm just a tad curious... I'm gonna make you love me...

Of course there IS MUCH speculation, rumours, false facts ...
if you ask me I am not even sure if they REALLY were romantically involved ... but o.k., let's play the game. I guess in case they were romantically connected, this must have been after Vanity and before Susannah Melvoin ? Sheila E. joined his band in 1987 and renounced on following her own solo career in promoting her (if you ask me) brilliant 1987 album. She then left the camp in the beginning of 1989 (?) after the Japanese leg of the LS tour and for many many many years it seems as if she wasn't around Prince. More or less the whole 1990'ies. I remember rumours that the two of them weren't even on speaking terms for a couple of years and that she wasn't allowed to enter Paisley Park so there must have been an argument concerning whatever. Somebody help me out with more detailled rumour knowledgle, please ...

I heard that Sheila was engaged to Prince in 1988,but she didn't marry him because he was messing around with other women (surprise, surprise).
She left the Prince camp in early 1989,after the "Lovesexy Tour".She released an album 'Sex Cymbal' in 1991 on Warner Bros, but there was no Prince involvement. Her relationship with Prince crumbled in the mid-90s.The problem was....Prince was feuding with his pal Gilbert Davison, who was the President of Paisley Park Records and co-owner of the Glam Slam nightclubs. He and Prince had a bitter falling-out (not sure why),and Sheila was caught in the middle because she was good friends with both of them. For a while,Sheila wasn't even allowed at Paisley Park.Prince was pissed that she was still hanging out with Gilbert at Glam Slam."I'm not allowed at Paisley Park, but I still love him (Prince)" she said in a mid-90s Internet chat. They eventually patched up their differences and Sheila occasionally performs onstage with Prince.

Ok I read once not too long ago from a Sheila article that Sheila was having back pains and she didn't want to upset Prince in the middle of the SOTT tour so she kept on and did all the shows,so Prince was impressed and asked her to come for LS and she couldn't dissapoint him again so she went and she finally she collapsed and she couldn't take it anymoe and left

At the 2001 Oakland soundcheck (March or April, I forget) Prince brought Rosie Gaines in and some of us shook her hand. She hadn't been seen with Prince in quite awhile, but the fans welcomed her warmly. During the soundcheck, Prince said they were rehearsing for the aftershow later that night (well, early next morning), and he asked if we (NPGMC members) were gonna be there. He said that he had invited a "friend" to perform with him. When questioned about the "friend" -- Prince said, "Sheila." And he added something like, "But I'm not sure if she'll show up or not. I hope she does." So, there was a feeling that Prince and Sheila still hadn't quite made up at this point (early 2001). Anyway, the next morning at the Fillmore in San Francisco -- guess who shows up? Sheila E! Everyone went nuts. And Prince was all smiles. They had a great time that night playing around with each other, and whispering in each other's ears. Sheila even pulled Blackwell off the drums and played a solo herself. And then Prince pulled Sheila off the drums and started to play a solo. I believe those of us who were there witnessed a historical moment, because ever since that night (er, morning), Sheila has been performing a lot more with Prince. Didn't she show up at the celebration in 2001 and give a drum clinic as well? Anyway, I believe that's when they got on good terms again (Spring 2001).

Collapsed lung if I remember correctly. I seem to remember her doing an interview where she was talking about driving around L.A. and all of a sudden having what she thought was a seizure. I wish I still had the article where she talked about this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I remember this as well -- she had talked about ALL the work she put into her new Sex Cymbal album (an awesome album by the way), and she wasn't able to do anything to promote it. If you see her in the "Droppin' Like Flies" video, she was a hurting woman (from what she said).

I'm kinda feelin' Annastesia22. While I like the org and feel that it is one of the top P fan sites, the mods can seem to come a cross as having their heads stuck pretty damn far up their own asses at times. Relax Handsclap. Not everyone is so well versed in completely useless Prince gossip. Everybody's a newbie at one time. [Edited 3/6/05 12:36pm] I AM BEATLOAF

Lemme help you out here. If you're looking for a particular website then a good trick will be to try the name of the one you're looking for and add a "www" at the front, and "com" at the end, I often find that's easier i.e. - www.housequake.com

The concert and aftershow you mention were 28-29 April 2001. Sheila's performance and drum clinic etc at Paisley Park was at the third Celebration in 2002. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
