St. Paul: Rich Man and Can't Get Enough of You

I dusted off my old cassette of St Paul's first solo record. Oh holy crap I forgot how stanky funky that record was. Sure, it's somewhat dated now, but the grooves are just the bomb.

My question - are any of those songs covers? Because the tune "Can't Get Enough Of You" is burned into my skull. Now, I remember listening to that tape over and over and over when I first got it, so, it COULD be burned because I listened to it so much, but I could swear that somebody else did that song.

Do you know what I'm talking about? I'll try to somehow burn the cassette to mp3 and post a snippet - the song is the JAM. THE JAM.

Haven't listened to that LP for ages but I remember how much I liked it back in the late 80'ies. St.Paul was still riding on that Minneapolis sound even after he left the Prince camp.
That LP has some nice tunes and I'm pretty sure that I have never heard any of that songs from another artist so I guess those tracks are no covers.
In particularly the following CDs showed his enormous talent for song-writing and producing. If you ask me, St.Paul is the most underestimated associated Prince artist.

Rich Man + Intimacy were 7'es and 12'es. The promo clip "Rich Man" was shown on MTV from time to time back in the days. That's all I remember.

Both the songs you mentioned are Paul's own compositions. I feel like that about a number of his songs though! I think the beauty of some of that early stuff was that it was so 'catchy' without being derivative you really felt you MUST have heard it someplace else before!

I agree. Good record. Especially back in the day. The CD says Monte Moir also co-wrote and co-produced "Can't Get Enough" and "tell Me". No question Paul has lots of talent.

He really does!
The Bunkers gig in February was a sight and sound for sore eyes and ears!
WOW!!!
Six years was far too long not to be gigging so I for one am glad he's getting back out on the road, we may even be able to persuade him to do a gig over here in England if theres enough support...
what do you guys think?
Would you be up for a St Paul gig UK side?????

"Can't Get Enough" was always my favorite St. Paul song! Didn't think anyone else ever bumped it!

That's right that's right, the music was the bomb.

So, now, if any of you got that song on mp3, what since my cassette is wearing thin, you know, just hook a cracker up...
