Ice Cream Castles meaning? I've always wanted to know...
What the hell does this song mean??? I'm embarrassed to ponder, but looking at the lyrics, does it have something to do w/ the love of white girls' ta-tas??? Or is it Morris Day (or Prince, since he co-wrote it) trying to get deep We are young, we are free on earth together. Let's fall in love. You are fine, you are white, I am of color. Let's fall in love. Ice cream castles in the summertime. Ice cream castles in the summer. I want you, you want me, we want each other. Is that so wrong? It's raining. Mad sisters, why can't they realize, that it won't be long? We're all ice cream castles in the summertime. Ice cream castles in the summer. Let's do something soon. We are young, we are free. Let's come together before the end. I am blue, you are too, what could be better? Let's make friends. We're all ice cream castles in the summertime. Ice cream castles in the summertime. We're all ice cream castles in the sun. Ice cream castles when we fall. Ice cream castles in the summertime. Summertime, summertime, summertime. Is that what you need? White girls, black girls, orientals, jamaican? Ice cream castles in the summertime. We're all ice cream castles in the sun. Ice cream castles when we fall. Ice cream castles in the summertime. Summertime. White girls, black girls, orientals, jamaican. I want you, you want me, we want each other. White girls, black girls. We are young, we are free on earth together. Let's do something, let's do something soon. We are young, we are free. Let's come together.

I think it's connected to Joni's song, "Both Sides Now" which talks about different ways to look at things. Prince said he got the title of this song from these lyrics:
Rows and floes of angel hair And ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons ev’rywhere I’ve looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun They rain and snow on ev’ryone So many things I would have done But clouds got in my way I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It’s cloud illusions I recall I really don’t know clouds at all But now old friends are acting strange They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed Well something’s lost, but something’s gained In living ev’ry day I’ve looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow It’s life’s illusions I recall I really don’t know life at all I’ve looked at life from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It’s life’s illusions I recall I really don’t know life at all [Edited 2/14/05 21:03pm]

Is there anything to make anyone think that she had any input whatsoever? Are Wendy and Lisa getting unearned credit for the Time music as well as Prince music these days?

I always thought it was a metaphor representing the difficulty of interracial relationships...I took it as if it were as hard to be in that kind of relationship as it was to keep an ice cream castle from melting in the summer time...

Soon everybody will have a little bit of everybody else in their family and it'll be that much harder to hate and to fight and to kill and to shoot and to bomb - all that will be harder. It's already heading there, but we're gonna step up in consciousness to the one grand human race. I'm poking fun at the people trying to hold on and face their fear of a mixed planet." On target! That's exactly what the song is about. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

Forget Wendy and Lisa. I am soo tired of them getting credit for everything. If they are SOO good, then why don't any of their albums sell well? AND, why do their albums sound cheesy?

Hey, I bought their albums and most everything else they've worked on -- and that says what? Well for my well-refined taste in music, that says that Wendy & Lisa are some damn fine musicians who write some of the most original songs ever composed in contemporary music history. There ain't no cheese. Please!!

You don't think the bass and organ in this song are kind of funky? In fact the whole CD is funky.
