Alexander O'Neal!!! Who else here is a big fan of Alexander O'Neal?? I think this brotha has such a distinctive voice, and a LOT of his work is just simply fantastic!! I can't say enough about him and his work with Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam! My all-time fav has to be either A Broken Heart Can Mend or Sunshine! Though, I can name countless others that are right there behind them. So, all right Alexander fans, discuss!! I just wish he was able to work with Prince directly on a couple of projects. Move this to the Prince: Non-Music forum, if that's where it has to be! | |

I was listening to Sunshine and Criticize just yesterday !
Hearsay and the first album are great, especially the songs you mentioned and If You Were Here Tonight.. How many albums did he make ?? I miss that old MPLS funk with the keys and synthlines and the melodies that would appear on Prince and Jam/Lewis releases...it´s interesting how details of certain songs would reappear on Lewis/Jam production or the other way around, like some snippets of Prince´s Possessed on Janet Jackson´s Control album or some of the similarities between the Time´s music , especially WHAT TIME IS IT ? and some of the melodies in O´Neal´s first album.. Man, do I miss those days...not exactly the time, but definitely the music...what a shame that Flyte Tyme moved to LA- Are you also into SOSBand and Midnight Star, the Whispers and some old Jody Watley stuff ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" | |

I bought his first album and was highly disappointed. I love "Innocent" but the rest of the album is too mellow. The second time around, I only bought the single "Fake" because I wasn't going to make that mistake again. Andy is a four letter word. | |

..thats precisely why I dig his music..its mellow and soulful...If You Were Here Tonight is a classic...the whole album just has that "feel" to it...but as always, different strokes for different folks... | |

Alexander O'Neal has a very nice voice, he's got a smooth R&B groove that's all his own.
I just recently bought his "Greatest Hits or Best Of (can't remember exact title). It rocks! | |
