Miko, the best guitarplayer Prince ever had!

Hello everyone, I am looking for all kind of information about Miko....he was that great guitarplayer from the Revolution! He played some licks that Prince can not immitate! Some guitarsolo's that everybody thinks it's Prince, are played by Miko. He is really great, and I would like to get all kind of information about him, I am a very big big fan of him! After Prince he played with many other big names.....

Well Jacky, you already know more about him than I do. Why don't you share some of that info. Who did he go on to play with? I know he is pictured on the CD sleeve of Sheila E - Romance 1600, and is listed as a musician on that release. Wasn't he in Sheila E's live band at that time?

You are kidding right?, isn't Rev Mike Scott a much more versatile player than Miko and quite literally a fatter/phatter player!. Miko sure was funky though. Anyway for someone that is such a fan of his i find it a bit strange that you identify him as the guitar player in the revoution. That was actaully a fat , bitter lesbian with bad hair and an even worse voice.

To be fair to Jacky, javed, I think Miko Weaver was in the extended Revolution around 1985/86 before being the guitarist in the Lovesexy band.

What a joke... Miko learned basically all his licks from Prince and Prince can easily play everything Miko plays...
But I jammed a couple of times with Miko here in Den Haag and he IS VERY funky... He used to play almost every weekend at a local bar called "De Pater" with a friend of mine who was his jam drummer... But I haven't seen him around for a couple of months now, I believe he went back to the US or something...

You have the nerve (or sheer stupidity) to call Wendy bitter??? Damn dude, what happened? Did she not appreciate the likeness you carved on your chest of her??

Come on now everlasting , you must admit that wendy is one bitter woman and full of her own self importance. You only have to go back a few years and read those comments she and lisa made about Prince to realise that. Why is it that so many associates can't stand on their own two feet after they've worked with Prince. Wendy, i hope has accepted the fact that the revolution had peaked and Prince was still evolving so the Revolution had tobe disbanded. W&L brought lots to the party but Prince does not need them, anyone who says otherwise is just living in the past. Also when i listen to old Purple Rain shows i cringe at her singing.
P.S don't call me stupid for having an opinion.

You've got to be kidding. Wendy full of herself?? Her and Lisa both are the most humble people I know. They never made any cruel comments towards Prince, in fact they're all still friends. And Wendy and Lisa have stood on their own two feet just fine. Their resume is beyond impressive and before you make a comment about sales, sure they haven't matched their popularity of Purple Rain, but who has?? Prince hasn't even done that. But to me sales don't mean the album's a great album. Britney's albums outsell Prince, but does that make them better? I think not.

PS
I didn't call you stupid, but I still think that was a stupid comment you made about Wendy. And I stick by that.

miko was probably the best rhythm player prince has ever had without a doubt.....

i liked the vibe wendy added to the revolution but musicians know that she really wasn't that good of a player... how many solo's did prince give her??
i wonder why? dez played solos in the band .....
could u imagine wendy in prince's band right now.....she would be totally lost!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet money that Wendy could hang with the new band. I've seen her play with Doyle Bramhall a few times and she was amazing on guitar AND bass.

Hey Neversin, You really don't know anything about Miko....yes, he played a few times at De Pater at Den Haag, but for sure not every weekend! He hasn't been there for maybe a year now! And he played there about 8 times, that's all. So who is a joke now??? I really stepped on your dig huh, telling that he plays lick's that Prince can't.....were you there when he was playing with Prince?!

I identify him as the guitarplayer from the Revolution because that's how he started with Prince, at 1984 till 1990. And this is a Prince-site so that's the easiest way, most people know him from that.

Miko was good, not sure about the best. When I was doing promotions 4 clubs etc..I got in on a gig that Miko was doing in the Bay Area. It was with him as singer & playing lead guitar or course 4 his group ( I'm thinking Boombox or some weak name) This was right after leaving Prince's group. He had some tight solo's and it was nice 2 see his line up of guitars from the Prince days on display etc....It was a free show 4 me so Being in2 Prince, I thought I would support Miko's effort~ After that...never heard much about him in terms of doing the solo thing anymore..

Miko was one of the most versatile guitarist Prince has had.
I'm not sure about the new guy. (name?)
He's seems very good, but too soon to tell.
None of this is a reason to bash Wendy.
She was an average guitar player at the time she replaced
Dez Dickerson.
Which I'm surprised no one even mentioned.
That guy could Funk and Rock with Prince.
Back then Prince, as well as the LOVESEXY band, Prince didn't have to worry too much about guitars and could be the showman.
In that first band Dez and the Doctor kicked A-SS!

Miko was a good Guitar player . Damn remember when he played the Guitar in the Lovesexy days with that fringed mask on? He could barely see, just like Prince used to do as Tora,Tora,Tora in Count The Days. But yeah, where in the world is Dez Dickerson? Didn't somebody say he had an album and a group or something? Tell us again. Please.

Miko was a good guitar player during his stint with Prince..

but DEZ DICKERSON WAS BY FAR THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER PRINCE EVER HAD IN ANY OF HIS BANDS.

Anyone who says Levi or Miko or Mike Scott is Prince's best guitar player must have never seen Dez TEAR UP the guitar. I saw him on both the Controversy & 1999 tours & he was
UNBELIEVABLE.

I would even say that Dez is probably a better guitar player than Prince, & either Dez decided (or maybe Prince asked him too, knowing Prince's HUGE ego) to hold back with his guitar playing, lest he upstage Prince who, by that time, was already getting upstaged on a regular basis by The Time in its original, most potent incarnation.

Wendy is probably a better guitar player than she's given credit for being. I remember during the Purple Rain tour, she did a reasonable version of the "Doves Cry" guitar solo. For the type of music she likes to play, & for all her other music skills, Wendy's guitar playing is just fine. Who wouldn't want her as a (rhythm) guitar player in their band?

But, in terms of Prince's guitar players..
when the smoke clears, I've got 2 words for you:

Dez Dickerson.

The only 2 words that really matter in terms of P's guitar players.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Dude, what the hell is your problem? I KNOW you're not talking shit about Wendy. Bitter? Wendy is anything BUT bitter. "Bad hair and an even worse voice" What? Why should you care how her hair looks? Sure, she doesn't have the best voice, but it's pretty decent. And why in the hell would you care if she's a lesbian? What's your problem?

Wendy was a pretty good rhythm guitar player but there is no way she is better than Miko, Dez, or Mike Scott. I actually think Mike Scott may be the most talented of the Prince guitarists with Dez fighting him for the title.

I don't why so many people think Dez was so great. First of all, Prince handled most of the funky rhythm guitar parts live anyway, and studio wise Dez played on what besides the guitar solo in Little Red Corvette?? Sure Dez was good but I think Mike Scott has been the most well rounded guitarist Prince has ever had in his band. For the record Wendy is my favorite guitar player EVER in Prince's band but she didn't solo all that much but rhythm wise you can't beat her.

Wendy worship

Okay in terms of Prince's best guitarists I would have to say Dez, Mike Scott at a close second. Miko was good but he wasn't THE BEST Prince has ever had. And don't be so hard on Wendy, how many times have you heard her solo? As far as the best rhythm guitar I would have to say Wendy, she's my favorite ex-band member, Lisa at a close second.

P.S. Wendy ROCKS!!!

Unrelated..

it's funny, I met Mike Scott a few years ago at an aftershow in Detroit and was telling him about the 1997 Corestates Philly show where he does that superfast amazing solo to start of 'do me baby' and he seemed really interseted in seeing it. I guess not even he has ready access to videos of the shows.

Neat. I think he is easily the best.
