Anyone remember this song by Sheila E.? It was on the b-side to "Sister Fate". It was a pretty decent song with a nice guitar and drum beat.

i'm sure i have that 7" single, though the only b-side from that album i remember is "the world is high", which was the b-side of 'koo-koo'....i'd love to take in a compilation of all sheila's b-sides and remixes someday, i bet i'd hear a lot of stuff i forgot about. biggrin

Sounds like one of the dumbest song titles ever!

It is fun to imgine how the song goes.....

"save the people, when ur not strong"

or

"save the world, save the children, save the ones who make a brighter day and lets start giving"

or

"save the world, make it a better place, 4 u and 4 me and lets not forget Damon Dickson"

Listen to the song before you judge it. The lyrics are:

Save the people, oh
Feed their hungy eyes
Save the children, oh
Don't let them die

This is said about four times and the rest of the song is mostly instrumental. It may sound corny but it is a funky song and the guitar and drums are kickin!!!

You've gotta check out the 12" Extended Version - the funk jam section with slap bass & rhythm guitar is cold-blooded! (Though it doesn't last very long.) This is definitely one of the funkiest moments of any Minneapolis Sound record. And the ironic part is that the guitar & bass may not have been played by Prince (ironic if it's not him because he IS so funky!) The rock guitar is played by Stef Burns.

Yeah absolutely. The 12" version is awesome. I always assumed it was Miko on the guitar, but interesting to see this was not the case. I still prefer the "Too Sexy" b/side, but only just!

Thanks to this topoic, I listened to the 12" on my ipod this morning. I had it way back when from the 12" to Sister Fate which I bought in Germany during summer school, and I didn't even have a turntable!!!

The rhythm guitar/bass part is great, as is the percussion work that comes before it.

It's possible that both Miko and Stef play guitar on that, cuz in some of her concerts in '85 era she had both of them up there, with Stef doign the lead and Miko doing rhythm.

I wonder if Prince did any of it.

Yeah, it's hard to believe she had B-sides...but she did. I think my favorite is Paradise Gardens. I probably have enough now to mak a greatest hits and B-Sides Comp.

I wish a whold assoc artist box set would come out. Throw in Family, Vanity, Apples 6, a SHelia E GH and Time GH and another of various...just for kicks put in a DVD of videos and done. Then again I think Sheila and the Time could have their own box sets (with all of the albums) as well as Madhouse.

Snap

Y'all talking there was a 7" of this? I thought "Dear Michaelangelo" was the 7" b-side? I only remember it being on the 12" vinyl -- and I wore that groove out! I've always LOVED this song! One of Sheila's best! And, tho sad, I love the way she sings, "Don't let them die..."
