Tyler Collins?? I'm watching the VH1 Classic hour with Morris Day (thanks to the Org I kenw about it and taped it).
They just played a video by Tyler Collins. never heard of her. She looks a lot like Jill Jones in the video. Googling her shows she worked with prince. What's her deal?  |

Tyler Collins released her debut album 'Girls Nite Out' in late 1989 or early 1990.It contained the singles "Whatcha Gonna Do" and the hit title track,which reached the Top 10.She signed to Paisley Park Records in 1992,and began work on an album.But the label shut down in early 1994 before Collin's album could be released.She hasn't been heard from since.
Interestingly,in a 1990 interview,Collins claimed that Prince asked her to co-star with him in 'Graffiti Bridge',presumably to play the part that Jill Jones wound up playing.She turned him down,saying that she didn't want to be "just another Prince girl",but she didn't rule out working with him in the future. | |

I have both of Tyler's albums -- decent but lightweight dance-oriented pop. Her voice was far more capable than was necessary for the music she was issued. She was absolutely gorgeous; I had a tremendous crush on her when I first saw her videos...
She was on a Fresh Prince of Bel Air episode back in the day as well; she played (of course) Will's girlfriend. | |
