where's Tommy "Barbarella" Elm on this thread?

One of the things that makes Dr. Fink so memorable is that he had a persona that worked for him (and he could play his ass off). Prince's most recent bands are slick and polished, but lack the theatrical aspect that was a big part of P's earlier bands. For instance, Sammy Hagar may be considered a technically better singer than David Lee Roth, but the DLR era is considered classic Van Halen because Roth's persona was a perfect fit for the band. Charisma, persona -whatever one wants to call it - can go a long way. Morris Day wasn't the best singer, but he was the perfect frontman for The Time.

In my humble opinion, the Dirty Mind era band was the most memorable. Add Jill Jones and it would've been perfect
