Sheila E. on video?

All the excitement about the proposed Family Jam (thanks Sheila!!!) got me wondering...

Was there ever a video of Sheila live other than In Romance 1600? The Syracuse Purple Rain tour only has her and the band joining for the encore...but what happened to her set???

I have a CD boot of one of the PR shows (I think it's the last one in FL) and it includes a third disc of Sheila's set, but have never found any video. I saw the tour twice and would love to see it on video again.

...if you are at ALL interested in Latin Jazz...or even think that you might...then go & get the Latina Familia video. Sheila jams with Pete Escovedo (her dad) and the late, great Tito Puente. It's AWESOME.

Otherwise, then you'll have to make do w/ Romance 1600 and her performance in Sign 'O' The Times...until Ringo's All-Star tour gets put on tape of course.

Yes,Latina familia,is the 1st video to come to my mind, but it is very hard to get a copy.Usually if you find a copy on the internet somewhere it is very expensive.
Also, you can get a copy of the Ringo tour from 2001,I have that and Sheila puts on a great performance with "The Glamorous Life",and its really cool seeing her playing the drums with the band too.
Eventually, they'll probably release a video for this years tour too.
I saw the tour last week, and it was really great to see her in concert again(last time was back in 86). smile

I did not know that it was now "rare".
If I find my copy, I'll try to make a copy and post it "For Trade" or something...

(Not a clip from Latina Familia...but it's got that same feel...)

Yes,it is rare,I believe it is now out of print, the cd is out of print also...I managed to get a used copy of the cd off amazon.com,but the sound quality isn't that good...you gotta turn the volume way up to be able to hear it at a normal sound level, and you can forget about blasting it while driving in the car.
As for the video,I was able to obtain a copy of it from a very generous friend...I think she shelled out 70 or 80 bucks 4 it.

Hey y'all thanks for the responses.

I guess I"m lucky to have all of that, cuz I bought Latina Familia on video an have Romance 1600 on Video too.

I taped Krush Groove of BET once but am thinking about getting the DVD now that it's out.

My favorite part is when Sheila is jamming in her room with the LinnDrumm and creates something that becomes Holly Rock... and even does "Everybody stop on the 1!" even though it's only her and her keyboard player!

Anyone tape the old Magic Johnson shows? Remember that mess? The only saving grace of the show was that Sheila E was the band leader.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Muffy

Shelia E is a Badass drummer for sure. Besides Michael Bland Shelia by far was the best Drummer Prince ever had in his band.

I used to try and stay up & watch Magic Johnson just for her... but it sucked cuz they never really showed her... just coming in from commercials. And you could tell they were tearing it up... Sheila would always get Magic or someone to play percussion with her and the band. They would play all kinds of songs, and even from the few seconds we heard it sounded AMAZING! I wish they would've shown those musical commercial fillers instead of the crap that was on the show (i.e. the "inteviews").

Finally, after hoping and hoping, they showcased Sheila one night and she played The Glamorous Life. She didnt' look her best IMO cuz she wore a tacky yellow pants suit and her hair was all pinned up.

But the worst part was that Howard Stern was the guest, and during her timable solo, he came over to her and started pawing her...she had to literally push him off of her so she could continue. It RUINED The performance!!!

I used to have it on tape but I lost it.

...wassup with Howard Stern anyway...?

FIRST he disgraces Prince's assless pants with his Ass-Man stunt on the MVA's.

THEN he disgraces Prince's finest associate by pawning her.

I think that deep down inside...that skinny tall white dude wants to be a skinny short black dude with rhythm!
