She was sooooo "not like the others." But also, i'm not so sure I see anything in her, & i'm trying! really i am.....why was she wearing those silly flat ballet shoes in SOT?? they did nothing for her & why was P so attracted to her???

i know...i know....i'm just jealous.....& where is she now???

Was Prince attracted to her? Or was she just someone he thought could dance?

I agree, I did not see the attraction to Cat either. I also did not think she that great of a dancer.

Gotta agree with this for the most part the rest of the women who danced with him over the years could not dance to his music. They more or less posed, pranced or, did strip club moves. Mayte for all of her training and such only excelled at middle eastern dance and some ballet moves, which did not go well with a lot of his music.

Cat could not dance....Mayte dance wise was a zillion times better and sexier, u seen "the beutiful expreience", damn she is fine in that!

I never liked cat.....same ol' moves over and over! Mayte could do some serious sexy ballet, her interaction with prince on stage was good too!

i actually liked Cat, i think all his dancers brought something different to the table. Cat was more street, Carmen was the stripper/lapdancer, and Mayte had that whole international vibe going on. I also think Cat is a beautiful black woman....it's just that assy perm in the Glam Slam video i couldn't understand:whofarted:

With regard to Cat and dancing, I have been rocking the SOTT Tour for the past couple of weeks and it has just reconfirmed to me that Mayte, Carmen, had NOTHING on Cat. Mayte has always annoyed me for whatever reason. She just seemed like a random girl on stage with Prince slinging her hair all over the place. She had a touch of ballet skills and was flexible, but as far as being a dancer on stage with Prince, she couldn't stand on her own the way Cat could. Out of all of the dancers, I have enjoyed Mayte the least. Cat all the way (although I really enjoyed Geneva as well....talk about flexible).

I admit Cat had great stage presence.....but i way prefer mayte's more intricate dancing and the gameboyz macho hammer dancing

I liked her rapping best though....."alphabet st" "cindy c"..i love 'em

Her rapping was way better then carmans, as for Tony M's and Mayte's (has Mayte ever rapped?)

I was reading some of the other posts, and I agree with ome of them, but how did beauty come into the conversation? Being beautiful and being talented on the dance floor are two different things. Cat could dance, and she fit with the music.Just because she wasnt gorgeous doesnt mean anything. The original Q asked why was P so attracted to her? Maybe it was deeper than physical. U never know.

My only problem with Cat was that sometimes her make-up did not go with her caramel coloring. The pink and orange lipsticks did nothing for her. But hey, the make-up Prince was wearing back them was off a lot also. Same for Boni and Sheila. Whoever was doing their make-up should be ashamed.

Cat was a beautiful woman. And, a decent dancer.

I occasionally am put off by comments here that seem a bit ... unsympathetic to Nona, Cat, Boni, Mavis and Patti -- especially when compared with the nonstop fawning over Vanity, Apollonia, Mayte, Anna, Susannah, etc.

If Prince were to leave Mani today for a Sista Souljah lookalike, it seems sometimes, he'd confound half his fanbase.

It was the time when Prince told his fans that in the future they would free the music and bring it directly to the fans, to our own houses. At the shows in Germany and Austria (and maybe Switzerland, don't remember) Mayte translated Prince's words for the audience. Her words were German, but didn't sound German at all and the grammar was totally messed up as well . Ain't nothing wrong with not being able to speak a foreign language properly (my English is not perfect either ), but around the same time I remember that she was telling how good her German was and that's definitely not true. Especially considering the fact that some native speakers helped her with what she had to say before the show (at least that's what I heard).
