How many of you out there are hip to the band da'Krash? They only had one album which came out in 88, which was produced by Jessie Johnson. Not only did he produce it but played on it and wrote or co-wrote all of the songs. I remember when I first heard the single "Wasn't I Good To Ya". I thought it was Jessie. The lead singer, Robert Jordan, had Jessie's vocals down pat. He actually sounded better than Jessie on vocals. He had more range. Anyway, the single was killing! It was Jessie's trademark funk "Free World"/Blueberry Gossip" sound with Jessie's guitar solos up high in the mix. I was shocked to find out that it was this band called da'Krash. I got the album and the whole thing sounded like what Jessie's second album should have sounded like. It's a very good album and if you really like Jessie's solo 80's stuff, you'll love this album! Songs like "Wasn't I Good To Ya", "Trapped In Phases" "Feeling Like This" and a piano driven ballad "Uptown" are standout cuts. I ended up doing some gigs with Dee Dee, who was the guitarist and Robert Jordan, who was the vocalists from da'Krash in a band called Dirty Diapers. Dee and myself were doing the twin Flying V double lead guitar assult untill Robert quit and Dee moved back south. Anybody aware of this album and if so, whay do you think of it?

I went back to listen to the "cassette" a few weeks ago during the
post of DaKrash vs Mazarati! I'm still as impressed as I was then!
The video for "Wasn't I good to ya" fit right along with the song--moving
cameras, high intensity action, just so much going on in such a small
space!!!! Definitely a Hi-energy sound!!!

For some reason I remember being disappointed be Blueberry Gossip
and I know their first tape being on point! Especially the guitars
and keyboard parts. You can easily see where Oliver Leiber was
headed when he worked on Paula Abdul's first venture!
If I could find the tape, I go back and give it a listen!!!

I thought they were the shit although Sir Casey's vocals were weak as hell live. The show I went to, they didn't even do "Strawberry Lover" which I think is their coolest song, because Casey's voice was way to strained to pull it off live. The Blueberry Gossip album as a whole was very sorry, I think. I love the song though. I think it's one of Jessie's best cuts. I wish he would have kept it for himself.

Going into it I was going for DaKrash...after listening

I forgot all about DaKrash when I was burning a lot of my albums and cassettes onto CDs. I'm definately going to have to do that this weekend.

Anyway, DaKrash came out strong with their very first track, "Trapped In Phases". This track is my favorite. It sounds a lot like Jesse Johnson's "Color Shock".

Another one I really loved was "Wasn't It Good To You". I can barely remember the other tracks though. I'm going hurry up and burn that on CD so I can get into it again.

da Krash became KOOL SKOOL (with a different lead singer) after that and released one album as well in '90 or '91 from memory.

While da Krash were HARD CORE FUNK,
KOOL SKOOL (also produced by JESSE) were more polished, bordering on NEW JACK SWING at that time.

I love both albums.

what were some of the song listings on kool skool cd because I kept up with jesse's work and I dont remember that one ,also who knows that jesse also produced "nights like this"4 the 5 heartbeats soundtrack.

I just vaguely remember Kool Skool. I couldn't get into New Jack Swing either.
