Associated artist song of the day: "Blue Limousine" by Apollonia 6 (1984)

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the only outstanding track on the Apollonia 6 album? Was this song ever released as a single? With a hot video, this could have been HUGE! Brenda's vocals are really impressive, and the song is a great dance track with a hypnotic synth line and really good lyrics....

It's 7:32...where can my baby be?
I must be a fool to let somebody do this to me
I can't stop him, wherever he parks his car is alright
But he'll be parking with a dent in the side if he stands me up tonight

headbang forget "Sex Shooter",this is the real gem on their album!

they talk so dirty, they get you all worked up inside

The song did a little better retitled as "Toy Box". lol

Just kiddin', but yeah I love this tune. It is classic Prince production style too.

Great song? Yes. The best? Not for me. A Million Miles takes my vote for that. I loved the whole album, though.

The Apollonia 6 album is one of my favorite albums by "Jamie Starr".

My favorite track is "Happy Birthday, Mr. Christian". I love the gun shots toward the end.

Susannah sings her ass off on Blue Limousine!! Love the whole album actually so fun and cheesy and campy all in one!
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I don't think the Apollonia 6 album was all that bad,I could tolerate Apples minimal vocal skills....I do feel "Ooo She She wa wa" and "In a Spanish Villa" should have been replaced with "Manic Monday" and "17 Days" .....OoH she she wa wa" was so corny.....Susan spoke better lyrics on the Vanity 6 album at least they were funkier any way, "Blue limousine" was hot....my favorite however was "A million Miles".

I recently got into Blue Limousine myself, since I converted my vinyls to MP3 and can listen to it on my ipod smile

It's even more Prince like than Sex Shooter (which is a good thing!). Love the Linn programming.

And I dont'have the lp sleeve in front of me now, but that's cool that that's Sussannah singing. I always want to turn her up in the mix smile I dont' love Brenda's vocals myself, but Susannah's mixed in sound great.

The synth "hohens" ad libbing at the end is awesome.

Don't the liner notes say Sheila wrote it? The Copyright database lists Jaime Starr.

A Million Miles is cool but I like BL better. It's funny cuz you clearly hear Prince singing on AMM...'SomeBODY, somebody clap yo' hands!". It's like if you want to deny you're on the album, you might want to erase your vocals (The Time anyone?). smile

I'm listening to it now on my computer... is Sheila doing a timbale solo at the end? it doesnt' sound like timbales per se (not as metallic) but my speakers aren't that great. or is it just tom-toms being played like a Sheila solo? she did once say she plays drums like percussion. in fact the drums on here sound like real drums vs. the Linn.

The liner notes on the Apollonia 6 album are hilarious. It's hard to know what to believe. On "Blue Limousine",the music is credited to Sheila E.,but I'm pretty sure that Prince composed that song on his own.On some songs,we really don't know who's singing what.I always assumed that it was Jill Jones ,not Susannah, aiding Brenda on "Blue Limousine".

I love the Apollonia 6 album my favorite song from the album is of course "Sex Shooter" which is sung by Apollonia herself. I also the "Blue Limeorous" sung by Brenda she also has a great voice like Apollonia and Susan for her song in the album. In my words I think they would have been a great group if they kept it up with another album after the first one. I have the rare chance to hear the rare unreleased song by Apollonia 6 "Manic Monday" and it sounds great, better done by Apollonia 6 then The Bangles.
Apollonia- Sex Shooter shooterin' love off in your direction

Good ear my friend. Nah, u r not the only one. I dig it. The album I think was considered to be a throwaway by P, but because he was in such a zone during that period, even material that he thought was weak was good. I like this album in a way, better than Vanity 6's album. I said "in a way", so nobody flip out on me, please.

Not a bad song at all, but my favorite on that album is "A Million Miles".

I also heard the version of "Manic Monday" that Apollonia 6 cut, and I knew immediately why Prince elected to give it away. IMO it sounded amateurish compared to the version The Bangles recorded.

It's a tough call between "blue limosene' and 'a million miles' ..... they're both excellent, and the best songs on the lp.

the vocals on the demo for manic monday are terrible. i like the raw sound of the instruments on it tho.
Keep your headphones on.
