Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam I was listening to the radio and I heard a song by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and my first thought was:
I wonder why PRINCE didn't hook up with Lisa Lisa or did he? Well, I was just wondering. She seems like his type -- long, black, bushy hair and olive skin. And plus, she kind of has that Vanity look. The Dreaming Peasant

Queens, New York.. i was walking thru the hall of my highschool and someone stopped me and we talkings..he says to me "i was out last night and this group called lisa lisa .. played they were hot shes hot " well anyway you catch my drift ..(i hope) i just remember sometimes how i was a part of that era remembering when i first heard that name or music or even first say breakdancing... amazing how time flies and how things you didn't think twice about become so big..or you know..neat feeling that is.

Yeah, I remember Salt and Pepper's hairstyle. Ha. I remember wanting to wear my hair like Lisa Lisa, but I didn't have enough hair (sob, sob). The Dreaming Peasant

She would shatter Prince indeed!
I just saw two LISA LISA & CULT JAM (what a cool name) videos back to back and she is a little plump, but she does have that Apollonia thing going for her. The videos were: Can you feel the beat & Head to toe "The poets are demanding their pay..."

Actually now that you said it, i think she did look a little like Apollonia. It has nothing to do with the fact that she is Hispanic also. Look at Apples and look at Lisa Lisa and you would have to admit they resemble one another

I can see SOME similarity, like makeup, but that's about it.

I know that Lisa Lisa was a huge fan of Prince. She even appeared at the premiere of 'Graffiti Bridge' which took place in New York (if I'm not mistaken).

And yesterday or the day before, it was like I was bombarded with Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam; I saw two videos back to back on 2play Tuesday (on one of those music channels). I saw Can You Feel the Beat and Head To Toe

I've always felt that Lisa's 1987 song "i Promise You" is very Prince-influenced.You could easily imagine Prince and Sheila E. singing this song as a duet.

Lisa Lisa was married when she was popular. It's 1984 All Over Again!

Yep. She was married to a guy in the band. Cult Jam was only two people and Full Force played all the instruments on record. Which one was she married to?

Lisa was only 16 when "I Wonder If I Take You Home" came out so I think she would have been a little young for Prince.
Lisa is a beautiful woman and her voice has definitely mature throughout her career. I only hope that I can make it to one of her concerts before it is too late. Also, I do not believe Lisa was married to any one in her band or Full Force. I have collected 10 of her 13 videos on DVD. It's great to watch the old school videos.

Lisa was not married when her very first single came out because she was still in high school. I think she said she got married right out of school. Her husband played her father in the video for "Kiss Your Tears Away." It was the last semi-hit she had with Cult Jam. It's 1984 All Over Again!
