I don't know about anyone else, but i think Susan and Brenda were two very talented woman that P never let shine. Vanity and Apollonia could not sing to save their lives. It was only the smooth, sultry backing voices of Susan and Brenda that saved them. If these two had done an album together under P's direction i am sure it would have done better than any of his protege's(including The Time). I miss those two and have been trying to locate them for years now. Wouldn't it be wonderful if VH1's Band Reunited found them and convinced them to sing "Nasty Girl" and "Sex Shooter" WITHOUT VANITY AND APOLLONIA(of course Vanity is saved now so she wouldn't do it anyway). Susan could do the lead and Brenda could back her up. Then Brenda could do "If A Girl Answers, Don't Hang Up" and "Hello, Mr Christian".

Any thoughts???

I don't know about Susan, but Brenda rawwwwked! The songs she sang were great (A Million Miles & Some Kinda Lover are my faves!), her voice was smoky - she just had that "I don't give a fuck" thing going on. She's awesome

yeah Brenda was the real singer in the 2 groups....but u can't deny "Drive me wild" especially the extended mix and "Make up" weren't HOT....Susan ain't doing anything different that Vanity didn't do on "Vibrator"

Susan and Brenda can play instruments also. P just never let them play because he hired them as backing singere for Apples and Vanity. Sheila E is WAY overrated. I think Susan and Brenda have better voices than Sheila E. and i stand by this no matter what anyone says.

Brenda is actually really talented. Prince wisely used her voice on alot of songs during that time. She was on 17 Days and there were times in the studio when Prince would just step back and tell her "damn you can sing!" Along with Jill Jones, Brenda was one of the more talented vocalists during that period.

Listen to Manic Monday by The Bangles. In the background you can still hear Brenda's voice because it was so strong, they didn't take it out of the mix.

I think the joke is sort of funny, but Brenda did work in music before and after Prince.

BTW, she and Roy did divorce several years back.
