"Hold Me" by Sheila E. Appreciation Thread Ok, I LOVE this song. It has to be Sheila's best slow song and one the best slow songs from a P protege. I know it is credited to Sheila, Eddie M and other who i can't think of, but i sometimes wonder if P wrote this song. Any one know the answer?

Eddie M. wrote the music and a woman named Connie G ( I can't remember how to spell her last name) wrote Hold Me.

I think it's Constance Guzman.
And yeah, P had nothing to do with this song.

Someone covered this song....who was it?
I heard it at work, and nobody believed me that it was a Sheila E song... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

"Hold Me" is an excellent song...a sultry, sexy and remarkably soulful slow jam. When I first heard this song,I couldn't believe it was Sheila! I remember thinking "finally, she released a single that doesn't sound like a Prince song in any way". Vocally, she's no Whitney houston, but on this song, she sounds stronger, and more confident than ever.I was really proud of her.
The entire 'Sheila E' album is a masterpiece. It's Sheila's most impressive, most consistent album ever.

David Z. one of Princes aliases????? I never heard of that....isn't that Bobby Z.'s brother???? if that was the case Prince helped in the producing of Jody Wately's debut album because David Z. is listed in the album credits there as well....I don't believe they're the same people.
as far as the intitial thread topic...."Hold me" Love thet song just heard it yesterday in Target over they're radio.....thought it was intresting considering I never heard it played on the radio here in San Diego on any of the quiet storm throwback shows..... I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.

"One Day (I'm Gonna Make You Mine)" "Wednesday Like A River" "Koo Koo" "The Pride And The Passion" "Boy's Club" "Hon E Man" "Love On A Blue Train" Sheila wrote and produced the remaining three songs with some of her bandmembers (no Prince involvement)... "Hold Me" "Faded Photographs" "Soul Salsa" David Z. is not a Prince alias,he's Bobby Z's brother. He was sorta like the Paisley Park "in-house producer" and he also worked on the Jill Jones album.

I used to love this song but it sounds so dated to me now with those electric drums. It almost sounds like a Full Force production now. However, the live version she does now is awesome.

In my opinion, it is one of the best slow songs from any of his protege's

Co-sign. Very dated it does sound. At the time, it could have stood up to the Taylor Dayne et. al. type ballads that filled the airwaves. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I haven't heard it in years... but I must have thought it was the jam since I have the 45 on vinyl. No wrecka playa though. I gotta get a turntable! "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

It's funny cuz Hon E Man sounds VERY prince like.

If you listen to it during the "quiet storm" of any late night r&b station, it can flow with the other new slow songs out today.
