Van Hunt speaks about Wendy

So "Neo-soul" artist Van Hunt is performing in New Orleans on Monday. Wasn't sure if I was going to go until my interest was heightened by all of the Prince references in this article about him (www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/current/openact.html), not to mention the fact that "'Hold My Hand' received a valuable assist from Wendy Melvoin, the guitarist in Prince's Revolution, who guest starred with Prince at the Essence Music Festival this year. 'I wasn't really thinking Prince when I wrote the song -- I was really thinking David Bowie - but when she played on it, you realize how much she contributed to Prince's sound because it really put it at early-80s Prince."

Its funny because "Hold My Hand" reminded me of Andre Cymone for some reason or another.

Kinda has a slower "Ritz Club" (from AC's "Livin' In The New Wave") groove to it.

This happens to be my favorite song off the CD. I often find myself putting it on repeat.

After reading about Wendy's invovlement on Van Hunt's CD, I am now able to undestand why his music had a strong Prince influence on it. I agree with all of you about the one cut that you all mentioned in previous posts.

Also, I just saw the video for this song of his called "Down Her In Hell."-It also has a prince like melody.
