Clare Fisher

Heyyo. Does anybody know of any more stuff out there by the Clare Fisher Orchestra? Did they do any albums by themselves? Also, what are your favorite Claire Fisher moments in Prince's career? For me her arrangements as an ingredient to the genius of the mid to late 80s Prince sound are second in importance only to his own. She is the best thing about the Under the Cherry Moon movie by far. Peace.

Clare Fisher's own work is very Brazilian. His work with Prince is best atuned on the Family's album and the song Crystal Ball.
Lots of nice things about Clare's work with Prince in Uptown and Per Nilsen's books.

Also check out Ask Rufus, by Rufus feat Chaka Khan. That is even better than Prince's work with Clare, cuz it incorporates so smoothly. And exactly why Prince wanted Clare to be featured on his work.

yeah, that's right, the name is CLARE and he is actually male. My favorite moments are Crystal Ball and Pink Cashmere, from the top of my head.

I also read that he and Prince have never met, Prince didn't even want to see a picture of him. He feared their magic would be lost if he saw him.

Clockwatcher, there are 3 albums currently available; "Just Me - Solo piano excursions" and "Latin Patterns", both by Clare Fischer, plus "Thesaurus" by The Clare Fischer Big Band. Have not heard any of them but if they are anything like the arrangements from the Parade era I'd definitley part with my money. All three are available to order in the UK via HMV website, don't know about outside the UK

I have a great 1962 LP with Clare Fischer called Fist Time Out. It's a modern jazz (har bop) album with Mr. Fischer on piano. He has made more than 30 albums, go to www.allmusic.com and look him up for a more extensive bio and complete discography...

Peace.

am i the only one who thinks Claire's work with P has been a bit stale lately? I remember hearing the stuff on The Family and being blown away...Now, the ochestration and arrangment's seem on autopilot...IMHO..

Parade wouldn't be the same without Clare, but one of my favorite Clare&Prince moments happens in Push. Very brief, but so evocative.

Pimk Cashmere is my favorite Clare Fisher moment with Prince. His string arrangements are brilliant.

Check out www.clarefischer.com. Although it seems those albums are all piano albums or with latin jazz combo's.
Anyway, you can order them directly through Clare himself! With orchestra, it's probably best to follow Mojo's advice, go to the online cdstores...

YEAH I really wanted to like Karmasutra
but it was a Big let down, however I would
not say the magic is over.
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.
