THE TIME

I've just now heard of The Time and love their music. What album do you recomend I get first. Ice Cream Castles sounds good.
BTW does Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis write any of the music or lyrics or does Prince do all of that? Also, is there a website where I can learn moreabout them?
Thanx4 thehelp

since they've only made four albums collectively, listen to all of them! you have three to go. all four rock, all though Pandemonium would be considered only for the hardcore time fan(like me). it widely known that prince, along with andre cymone, dez dickerson, and even lisa and wendy were main contributors to the times sound, look, and image. here is the best(and possibly only) website dedicated to the time: http://www.purplemusic.mynetcologne.de/ write me back to let me know when you are ready for more biggrin

the 1st 3 albums are the best, in my opinion. there are some good songs on Pandemonium - namely Jerk Out - but I think their 4th album isn't as good as the 1st 3, in large part because they steered away from their "6-track-per-album formula"

most people say that the 2nd album - What Time Is It? - is THE BEST Time album ;
I'd be hard pressed to argue that. Wild & Loose. 777-9311.
THE WALK.

I would say my favorite "Time" song is from their 1st album -

The Stick.
I'll see you tonight..

Rhastus

what Time is it is definetly the best. Ice Cream Castles has the two songs most people are familar with(Jungle Love and the Bird) and also the excellent My Drawers, but I think its the weakest of the four overall

3. Ice Cream Castles
4. Pandemonium
5. Grafitti Bridge (There are some Time tracks on there)

Pandemonium is a little long, but it's much better than Ice Cream Castle. Plus it's the only Time album that has real contributions from Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Jesse Johnson. The others are basically Morris singing over a bunch of Prince tracks.

Here's how I rate them:

1. What Time Is It?
2. Pandemonium
3. The Time
4. Ice Cream Castle
5. It's About Time (Morris Day)
