Who was a better rapper: Tony M or T.C. Ellis? I think both of them were corny, but if i had to choose i would say T.C. Ellis. Tony M seemed like he was trying to be something he really wasn't.

Hey Monkeyboy,
I'm sorry. I was under the impression that this is a site where you can ask whatever P related questions you wanted. It may be a corny question, but at least it is something different. I get so tired of the same topics all the time(Best P song/album, where is Cat, anything about Apples etc). Its like no one else has anything different they can think of. Can you do any better?

Yeah, u tell 'em, seriously..... Anyway, I love this part of P's career and I go with Tony as the raps he wrote r fun and he was good in interviews etc.....his rap on "Sexy mf" is cool.....same with "the flow" I have Tc's album....."True confesions" (the song) is cool as is "Cold thang" but I preferred Tony's voice which was a bit more versitile then Tc's as Tonies was more smooth plus he could bellow out cool lines too:- Highlights of Tony M:- "With a flow and a spray....u gotta become a Prince before ur a king anyway" My name is Prince (chorus to "The max" and "Gett off") (his part on "Sacrifice of victor") "The flow" "Call the law" "Push" Pluis of course his great line on "Gangster glam"---"We'll I put the mmmmm in Man. I'm kickin' the gangster glam" I love that line the best! [This message was edited Thu Aug 5 8:41:08 2004 by thesexofit]

Tony M definitely (and I do have the TC Ellis album)
There are many reasons why I like Tony M. Try imagining the following and you will see what I mean Sexy MF/Willin' and Able/My Name is Prince without Tony's raps Clockin' the Jizz without Tony's "hmmm Clockin' the Jizz" Sacrifice of Victor without Tony's quick "S-A-C-R-I-F-I-C-E" Tony's influence on Prince made for some great tracks such as Call The Law, The FLOW, Something Funky, Gett Off, Push, Daddy Pop,.... Also, The Gold Nigga album is a lot of fun - still. I quite liked the guy, but at the same time I'm pleased his involvment with Prince ended when it did as I wouldn't have wanted much more... I would say Tony M was the better rapper but Prince never needed any rapper in his music - I cant cite a single instance where rap enhanced a peice of Prince music - unless you count the Sheila E rap on Its a Beautiful Night and the Cat rap on Aplhabet Street

I am no real fan of rap music, but I do feel that Tony's contribution to the Prince sound of that period deserves more appreciation than it ever seems to get here in this forum. It seems that his awful contributions to Jug Head and Love 2 the 9s have overshadowed much of the decent input he made. -----------------------------------------
