For the record, you're talking to one of the early fans.

From the "Parade" album....."Do U Lie". You sound like it.

And why would I want to prove that to YOU? jerkoff

As far as you not looking for a repeat of what he already can do. Since "Around The World In A Day", what has he done that is so different. He has been in that style and stuck there ever since. With the exception of slinging on a few songs to adapt to the passing trends such as house and hip hop, he has always gone back to the same style that he had after "Purple Rain". His original style, considering his growth, was from 1978 - 1984, that is only 6 years. That is six years of growth with every album. After "Purple Rain", from 1985 - 2004, that is 19 years. Like I said, there is nothing drastically different. He is stuck in that damn rut!

Sounds like your ears have been in a rut. Ever heard of a little thing called Sign O'The Times? Lovesexy? The Gold Experience? Emancipation? The Rainbow Children?
I think it's fair to say that these albums have nothing in common with Around The World In A Day or Parade.

Just messing with you. We both have our opinions on what is the best Prince music and no one is going to change either of our minds.

As you can see, I still love Prince's music because I am still buying every album on the day of its release. If Prince is guilty of anything it is broadening our minds to different styles of music. I just wish he would have done it later on in the game when he could no longer make money off the synth sound (which any Prince fan that has been with him since day one would consider the Minneapolis Sound). A change in style would have been great in 1990 or 1991 when the style of R&B was changing overall.

From "Around The World In A Day" to the present, the majority of those albums have had a retro sound like the 1960s or 1970s. Don't get me wrong, these are excellent albums but are not half as good as the previous ones.

Before "Around The World In A Day" each album progressed more than the previous. Each album was more cutting edge and could compete with and surpass the other artists of that time. I'm glad he doesn't want to be mainstream now because I wouldn't want him to try to compete with the other artists in this day and age because they sound horrible. Music in the last 15 years has been absolutely horrible, except for Prince's music.

He's gone down the retro path of the 1960s and 1970s since 1985. If he wants to continue down the retro path...follow the early 1980s retro path and bring back the synths. Hell, at least for ONE album. With the same type of promotion that "Musicology" has received this year, I really think he would be surprised at the sales. Watch and see how many of the old fans that haven't listened to him since the early 1980s would buy it. I know plenty of people that say they would buy something new from the "old Prince" in a heartbeat. And with this being the 20th Anniversary of "Purple Rain".....an album like that would have sold like hotcakes.
