Their first album is great. Brown Mark and Prince. Player's Ball and Strawberry Lover r my favorites. I seen Mazarati at The Palace in Hollywood. First time I met Andre Cymone. Mazarati was my fave act on Paisley Park.

those are my two favorite songs too! "She's Just That Kinda Lady" sounds very Time-like,and you can easily imagine Morris Day singing those lyrics."I Guess It's All Over" is a killer slow jam.

Their second album on Motown is pretty hard to find. I remember seeing two promo 12" singles for "Saga Of A Man" and "Woman Thang" at the time, but since Prince was no longer involved I wasn't really that interested. Wasn't Bernadette Cooper (Klymaxx) associated with the second LP?

The b-side to the "100mph" single, "Don't Leave Me Baby" isn't bad either. I've heard there was another non-album track on the b-side to the "Stroke" promo 45, but I've never heard it.

I have it, it's buried away with my other 45's. It's called "Wednesday Champagne" or some shit like that. It's a instrumental. It's cool, Brown Mark solos on his bass.

HEY HEY HEY
what's this BOTH ALBUMS talk???

I of course have the self-titled album that came out in '86.
in addition to loving that "majestic" guitar riff that opens the album & 100 MPH,

there is of course She's Just That Kind Of Lady & Stroke
both I love mainly because of their VERY FUNKY bass lines;

Strawberry Lover rocks, even though the singing almost.. lowers the quality of the song;

I prefer the 12" version of Player's Ball (which I have) to the album version;
100 MPH is solid too.

now WHEN did they release a 2nd album? is it available on cd? is it worth getting?
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I love their first album, all of it.Plus the B-sides & remixes.Couldn't get into the 2nd album.They did some Stones covers I think which were awful. Ironically , their outtake version of Kiss isn't that great, IMHO.

hard to pick a favorite. That was a great album. I love on the live version of 100MPH where they get to the bass line from Cool and they really break it down and jam on it

I love Strawberry Lover the best, but then "Player's Ball" and "100 mph".

I've never heard their second album. Was that one on Motown or some other label?

In late 1986,BrownMark left the Prince camp and he signed a recording contract with Motown Records.As part of the deal,he was able to bring Mazarati with him.He wrote and produced a second album for them titled 'Mazarati II' and it was released in 1989 on Motown Records.The album was a commercial flop (which is why most of y'all didn't even know it existed,lol) and Mazarati was never heard from again.

So far, I've read one review on this thread that said Mazarati's second album isn't so good. What do the other people that have heard it think? How much involvement did Brownmark have with it? Is it worth tracking down?

Yes, it is (exactly) the same song. I wonder about that, because I've never heared before that a b-side was later released as a regular album track again. That's really unique I think.

PS: I encoded the songs in 160k Stereo MP3 and started uploading all the stuff for you (about 200 MB). I will post the link when the page is ready.

I've never heard the second Mazarati album,but I doubt that it's any good.BrownMark released his own second album around the same time,and it was crap.He had great potential as a producer,but I think he "lost" something when he left the Prince camp.
