A quick dumb question. When I post anything on the Org it quickly disapears down the list and out of site. Other postings seem to sit around at the top of pages for ages. How's that?

Depends on the 'sort order' you are viewing the threads by. One ordering is by when the thread was started, the other is by when the last response was posted. If no one responds to your thread, it'll probably seem to 'slip down' faster, especially if you use "sort by last response" ordering.
