I feel like I might miss some important/interesting piece of news because I'm looking in the wrong place !
But I guess the important stuff will be on the Home Page !?

I agree that the presentation of the news in summary form, and the absence of a list which is grouped by date, makes it more difficult to 'catch up' on news since the pages were last checked. Would it not be possible to include a section in the left-hand margin (where the hot topics are featured, for example) maintaining a list of headlines posted in the last 3 - 5 days? This would make it easier for someone to catch up on all news posted since a previous visit, because the homepage might only feature summaries of the 3-5 most-recently posted items.

I wonder whether the absence of such a list might also result in further duplication of news too? We have already had a duplicate of the same news posted with only 3 days between the two postings.

It is less clear to a contributor whether a piece of news has already been submitted, at least recently (although a simple search by the contributor - and the moderator as a check - should avoid this).
