Suggestion for GD

Currently the comments at the head of the GD Forum read:

Topics that don't fit into one of the other forums, such as current affairs, sports, etc.

Please note that posting empty messages to "bump" threads won't be tolerated. Don't flame people. If someone flames you, report it to the moderators and it will be dealt with. Don't post adult images, or offensive images. You may link to such content if you wish, but make sure you include a warning in your post. Some people read the Org at work you know smile

I suggest it be edited to read:

Topics that don't fit into one of the other forums.

Forum rules: Don't flame. If someone flames you, report it to the moderators. Don't post adult or offensive images. If you link to such content, make sure you include a warning in your post or thread title. Posting empty messages to "bump" threads will not be tolerated. Read all the rules here: Rules!

Then get rid of the "Note: be sure to read the rules!" line under the list of moderators.

smile

What the hell...maybe the P&R forum rules could be edited as well...

Currently they read:

Flex your debating skills on more serious topics such as world politics, history, religion, racial issues etc. Keep it friendly though!

When discussing religion, please keep it civil and be considerate for the beliefs of others. Criticise if you wish, but do not attack individuals on the basis of their beliefs. Discussing issues such as racism is okay, as long as it is handled in an intelligent and civil manner.

They could be edited to read as follows:

Flex your debating skills on more serious topics such as politics, history, current events, race, and religion.

Please be civil and considerate towards the beliefs and views of others. Do not attack individuals on the basis of their beliefs or views. Discuss ideas, not people. Do not flame. If someone flames you, report it to the moderators. Read all the rules here: Rules!

Here's one for the Scrambled Egg Forum.

Take 4 large eggs and crack them into a bowl. Whisk until beaten and add a pinch of salt. You may also add milk, cheese, or any other ingredients you want. Pour into a large pan and cook until you think they're ready. Serve with salad and I'm bored with this now.

Ben, over to you.

you know what....ive listened to your complaints for a couple years now....and you never seem happy...ben has changed how things are moderated here...for the most part people seem happy...yet you keep rearing your bitter opinions....thus far ive seen you make negative comments about june7, luv and myself...so my recommendation? stop visiting the org...its obvious you will never be happy here.....maybe the npgmc forum is better suited for you...and thats great....but dont ruin other's enjoyment....being a killjoy doesnt do anyone any good...

Oh no, I'm being disliked by the moderators who can't spell or use grammar, and somebody who felt the need to change their account. I think I'm gonna cry.

For those that complain about my attitude, you who are moderators volunteered to have a moderating position on this website. That doesn't mean you have to read what I write unless it's reported, I don't flame people routinely. So don't read it, that's my advice to you. I'm not on here much these days anyway, check how many posts I make a day or something, and how many posts you make that don't relate to your moderating capacity. If you really can't handle people criticising your linguistic disabilities you should either get better at it because the errors you make aren't dyslexic of nature, or stop bitching about it, because nobody has ever voluntarily given up a moderating position, all of you like attention way too much.

That was the last attention either of you will get from me.

some times i enjoy your posts but sometimes you're just to damn negative about the way this site is run it makes me wonder why you even bother.

and what does me changing my org name have to do with anything? that's a strange thing to call someone out on.

or should i say, "Oh no, i'm being disliked by someone who has nothing better to do than bitch and moan about nonexistent problems on the website she frequents and only spreads intense negativity everywhere she goes. I think i'm gonna cry!" rolleyes

Ian did!

And, by the way, the comma after the word 'position' is incorrect. It should be a semi-colon, hyphen, etc etc.

If you fling shit, you should be able to take people flinging shit at you in return.

Definitely, it's a second language speaker error then, in Swedish the colon is correct. My bad.

Actually, Ian didn't step down quite voluntarily, somebody else had to spend a whole weekend cleaning up after him and shortly after that he "retired".

9's, sorry for jacking your thread. rose

Have you gotten any feedback on your suggestions from Ben? biggrin

I think Ian did a tremendous job moderating this site, virtually on his own, when all sorts of crazy loons were posting.
(I kind of miss those times! sad)

I'd be very surprised if you knew a fraction of what you are claiming to know of what went on behind the scenes when Ian left.

In the nicest posible way of course.

Yeah I saw. Thanks. smile

I don't need any feedback! This is just a suggestion. I figured it would save some lines of text, make the page look that much neater, and be a better thumbnail guide for users and mods.

Plus, in the P&R forum, it's weird how religion is singled out for inviting criticism, and race is singled out for a warning about intelligence and civility. It seems like things just sort of got tacked on over the years as new issues arose. Why not simplify/clarify it?
