Why Do Some Org Members Have To Be So Snotty? I've seen some new members post questions that they honestly wanted answers to, and I have read some truly pissy responses. Being a new member myself (since February), I know how it feels to have someone respond negatively to a question that I didn't realize had been posted before. Some of y'all act like kindness kills you. What a way to make newcomers feel welcome. Just answer the damn question, and keep your attitudes to yourselves! Or, if you're feeling a little too full of yourselves, just don't answer at all and let someone else do the honors.

it's not just the Org. There are those in any online community who aren't particularly understanding and helpful. But usually people have their questions answered... eventually.

Some of us are snotty because we have fully working brains. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

there's a certain tone, style and sense of humor on the org that is not everybody's cup of tea. personally, i like it a lot, but i can see where a new person may misunderstand. plus, there is a definite skepticism when it comes to newbies - they need to establish some trust first before being taken seriously. don't take it personally, and don't mistake being cautious for being snotty/snooty.

Some of us are snotty because we have fully working brains. For you to even go there suggests the opposite about yourself. I was commenting on the hostile attitudes I've experienced myself as well as through other members when asking a simple question. Nobody gets through life not asking questions, not even geniouses. The fully working brains that you allude to are gained through education...nobody learns without asking.

Maybe people are rude here because they can't get away with it in their day to day lives. That's why I do it.

Is true, that. Because some "newbies" are actually "oldies" in disguise, so whenever a newbie pops up, you sorta ask yourself: Okay, who is this really? But that mostly goes for threads where "newbies" introduce themselves. Personally, I had a fairly easy time getting "accepted" on the Org. I didn't do any "self-introduction thread", I just posted all over the dang org. People noticed. Anyways, I have a theory that if one really wants to be taken seriously on the org, it's a good idea to start out by posting in the General Discussion forum. Certainly, when I go through the Prince forum and such, I really do only take opinions to heart that come from people I know from the GD Forum. Call me biased, if you want. I didn't think I was entering a relationship. I thought I was merely posting messages on a message board with everyone else. Someone posts a topic, and I give my opinion. I wasn't speaking so much for myself in terms of the rude responses - my threads are basically pretty much ignored - I was simply defending some other people who just cowered down instead of sticking up for themselves.

'fraid there are some people like that here. I know when I first started I was treated the same, once people see your personality within the forums or chat rooms (both happened to moi) then you start to get some respect and people listen to you. I listen to anyone cos I like a good natter personally! JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...

Oh, I've seen that happen too. Trust me, I've been ganged up on by other orgers too. Apparently there are those out there that for reasons I am unaware of seem to enjoy trying to belittle me. But do I care? No, this really is just a website and I don't know them from Steve. So I don't take it personally. It doesn't get to me. Besides, I can stand up for myself. The Org is like life. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes its heckuva fun. There's always some asshole idiot trying to ruin your day, but mostly there's the good crowd that makes me come back. Thankfully. And this thread hasn't been ignored. The Org is a fickle audience. Some threads hit. Some threads miss. We've all had misses, I think. And what's a hit? My Mel & Prince-thread had lots of asshole idiots posting hostility on it, but over 1000 people read that thread, so I consider it quite the success.
