Eh...I can't speak for Ice, but I think he really hates those guys. That was one of those times that I looked the other way. Well, maybe I chimed in and vented once or twice when he was bitching about RD, just because RD pisses me off too sometimes, but I didn't find the outright hatred funny, no. It's close to the edge.

well, honestly teller, i feel like your avoidance in your apology of the comments that were the most extremist and the most obscene is a bit of a soft pedal past them. labeling in a general way the camments as comedy is... i dunno. i have said my peace. thank you again for the apology, it does genuinly replace some of the respect i had lost for you in the last few days. i wish you the best.

Extremely dishonest move, whoever you are...I'm not impressed...but the herd is impressed, so you're a star.

The double entendre thing is done here all the time. I'm so retarded I thought the Spades thread was about the card game and went in to explain how to play it lol

the threads in question were jokes, yes, but disgusting and extremely offensive. i hold those in the same regard as the offensive joke thread.

Everyone is free to make their judgements about any and everyone involved. Aarron, Ice, Chemmie...gee wonder what they'd have to say.

I am extremly disinterested in anything any of the three have to say on the matter. chemmie orgnoted me, and i could not bring myself to read it. aaron posted a very half-hearted apology about the AIDS comment, then continued right on attacking. he did not apologize for the gay slurs, because no one called those into question, indicating to me that his apology was false. he seemed only to be sorry for being caught, and sorry that he lost friends over the matter.

The same thing they said here, just not so subtle. I aint defending them so drop the gloves right there please. I don't like that kind of fucked up humor but they do. Hey shrug

I get why this is tinged with such outrage. the dragging and AIDS and all that, those aint pretty subjects. They're hurtful and full of incredible pain. I am sorry for anyone who got hurt because of that shit and hope they can move beyond it and realize that they really don't care what those people think anyway. Believe me, I'm not minimizing, just adding my thoughts...

as i said before, i have moved beyond it to some extent, and will continue to do so, but i feel that labeling such extremist comments as comedy is a softshoe around the real issues.

When I said "wonder what they'd say" I wasn't referring to what their explanations would be here (if they even had any) but what did people expect they would say in a private environment.

And I have never labeled those threads as high comedy...

Teller, I'm afraid I lost just about any shred of respect I had left for you. I wish I felt otherwise, especially considering the communicating we did while you were last AWOL from the Org.

That's all. If I started pointing out inconsistencies in your statements and logic, I'd be here all night. shrug

Oh, there is one other thing: why don't you use your "kung fu" to create an IceNine.Org, since he inspires such fierce loyalty and admiration from your group? I think that would be a fine way to showcase his satire, wit, irony and comedy skills and at least everyone here would know what they're getting into if they chose to join...

Well, Chris Rock can pull it off because he also laughs at his own origins/group/race. Straight white male humor should also be about straight white males if you venture into race/sexual orientation "jokes". And from what I've seen, there wasn't a whole lot of that. So-called subsersive humor, to be truly subsersive, must raise above the clichés. Otherwise, it's just a couple of straight white guys laughing at the same old groups bigots joke about. I don't think that's very edgy.

You should have seen me and Supa flirting. What the Uptown Reporter missed was all the love. sad

Good for you if there was some of that, but comments are more about the perils of "controversial", "edgy" race/sexual orientation humor. It takes a tightrope artist to make it work if it desserves to work at all. Icenine is more cannonball than tightrope, whatever one thinks of his posting style.

I'll take the cannon-ball, thank you very much. I love it--break the rules! Be an equal opportunity offender! But that's me.

Actually, I suspect a lot of people find that stuff funny--they're just not allowed to admit it in public.

Not sure if there was equal offending. Theoritically quite unlikely.

In any case, if the goal was to be controversial, then you guys succeeded a bit too much.

And as for the market for this stuff, it looks like there were few takers here. Can't be because we're all oversensitive bleeding heart liberals, eh?

Lie number 1: That this was an experiment in free speech, that the site was "unmoderated."

The site was moderated on the most fundamental and offensive level: people's presence on this "open forum" was rigidly and ideologically "moderated," so that there would be only like-minded individuals present as the "kinks" were being worked out. You allowed curse-words, big whoop, that's hardly a clarion call for free-speech.

And this was not a private forum or email correspondence or whatever. It was on a public message board. You typically evade the most substantial charge by turning this into an issue of "beta-testing."

Speech in this situation was anything but free because it was not required to engage in argument or debate. It was not forced to think of the consequences of this speech or any other possible reactions than laughter. Anyone who doesn't agree that it is funny is called self-righteous. This is comedy drained of intelligence, which I agree is a hallmark of IceNine's posting style.

As site designer and person who decided who would and would not be invited, this particular fault lies entirley at your feet teller, not with any of those who perhaps innocently signed up as a result of an invitation and who were not aware of the ideological vetting process they were subject to.

These are the words I'm trying to understand:

whomever was genuinely offended by all this: I'm sorry for offending you. It started out rather harmless, and I won't apologize for the sick humor, but it was thoughtless of me to let it get out of control, to let it come to this, to mess up your org like this. I've caused so much headache around here...

If the sick humor genuinely offended some people - those people that you sincerely wish to apologise to for causing offence to them - then why do you refuse to apologise for the sick humor?

I created “The Center for Banned and Departed Orgers." The place actually has no proper name, but that's as good a name as any…here's the whole story as I see it:

Lie Number 2: That You Created TCFBADO With That Title and Aerogram Coincidentally Stumbled Upon This Title in His Thread Here.

You could at least be fair to Aerogram here, especially if your intention is to clarify people's involvement with this little experiment in Utopia. I will speculate on your motives for not being honest about Aero's role below. But first let me expose this particular little "white" lie. smile

I and some others had been browsing that forum for a good week or so before it was exposed and I distinctly remember that you took your title from that thread that Aero created here on the Org. There was no coincidence about it. In fact, many of your members briefly panicked that you had been discovered, thinking Aero's thread was an allusion to Quaidbowel [please note crude humorous spelling of Quaidbowl. Hope you appreciate it teller. smile ] I think it's important to clarify that in order to clarify Aero's role in all this, which is even much less than you let on here.

As for why you fail to do this, I suggest this is because psychologically you are unable to be completely honest on any level about what that site was/is about. Aero, I suggest, was invited for no other reason than to add legitimacy to your venture without exposing its content. As you sought to increase your numbers, your criteria broadened to include those who you felt would not "squeal," as you say.

By maintaining the fiction that perhaps Aerogram was more involved than many people would otherwise think you seek to cloud people's judgements further by feeding off his aura of legitimacy. Sure, you clear his name at other points, but not on this key issue.

Where is that edge you talk about teller? It seems that with you and IceNine (whom you "love"... ahem) the edge is always near, but never crossed.

You say you think IceNine really HATES these guys. Now, if you really "love" him, then it is very clear why you wouldn't dream of apologising to these people: You hate them too and gladly turned a blind eye so your beloved IceNine could vent his hatred of other people "freely".

Yeah, "maybe you chimed in and vented once or twice" and "maybe" you didn't find the "outright hatred" funny, but hate like that combined with speech ("jokes") about dragging people from a different race behind cars untill they are dead, constitutes hate speech. It is immoral and possibly outright illegal. You may think that is allowed in the good ol' US of A, but racism and defamation isn't, certainly not when it is fueled by hatred.
