the org isn't a democracy. end of story and thread.

dansa, no..the org isnt..but it is an online community..and if you want to continue to have people visiting this forum you better treat people and their concerns with respect...

now this was a comment i wanted to make on a locked up thread..a threat that wasnt rude or disprespectful of anyone..it was a simple sharing of the minds..so, since i spent a good ten minutes thinking out my comments..im gonna post them here...

start of comments:

in her defense of melissa though, im sure passions are high right now...its that same type of knee-jerk reaction that seems to get matt in trouble when he does actually decide to pop in and moderate...i returned to this site what, six months ago...i could honestly say i have read life five posts from matt in the general section..and two from ben...as owner if the site i dont see why its needed for ben to contribute...but a moderator? i think you need to be involved just a tad bit more...

thats why i, sosgemini, will be sending my delegates to Dansa...I think its time that a new administration takes over...This conspiracy that has allowed Melissa aka Tackam aka The Supreme Court to allow Matt aka Dubya to remain in power is an injustice to all those who care for peace, love and chicken grease..

hehehehe...

in all seriousness though...anyplace that allows someone like rdhull yet bans icenine is not right...

look folks..this is what it all comes down to. "keep it friendly"...i think chemmie didnt realize this...i think aaron might have forgot this from time to time...and i could see why these deletions were justified..to an extent...but to ban them completely is a complete slap in everyone's face when you allow someone like rdhull to continue to "not keep it friendly"..

i dont know rdhull personally..i dont wish him any ill will...but i do see a huge gap in consistency here...and it smells funky...

how do you fix the problem?

1) i think matt needs to stop moderating...if your not part of the community you shouldn't have the keys to the front door...PERIOD!!

2) allow all the banned orgers back...the banning of people really is silly and it only creates further problems...

but...

3) promise to delete any comments that belittle or disrespect others opinion...

how?

4) approve a shitload of moderators...this site is huge..the forums are huge...you need at least five or even ten moderators...and have dansa you ben review all moderation actions...if someone is unjustified...reverse the action...i think dansa is up for the task (as long as her responses are professional and courteous)...

fyi: this statement can be attributed to dansa and the locking of a thread within the site discussion forum..and dansa, if you wanna learn anything from matt learn this..people dont want flipped explanations for actions...you gotta be respectful of their feelings (as a moderator) even if the person is the biggest jerk under the sun...

look at it this way...by making a declaration like this..well, its akin to president bush saying "bring it on"...and we all know what happened after that..

its just more fuel for the flame...i am always bringing up katrina from imusic..she kept the cool when moderating..even when people like khlk was screaming that all gay people should burn in hell...like the jets sing.."keep it cool..real cool"

Now that's just wrong, RD is a cool guy and I've never had any problems with him, he's always treated me with the upmost respect nod and he's one of the many reasons I come to the org, always makes me laugh.

I've never had a problem with you and you are titled to your opinions but RD is my friend and I'm not going to stand by and watch someone talk about him (or any of my friends) that's just the way I'am, when somebody is my friend they are my friend for life.

how am i talking about him? or anyone else for this matter? please remove the emotional connection that you have to him and re-read my comments..

all i am saying is that there are huge inconcistencies with moderation on this site..and *that* is what fuels the frustration...

icenine and i are friends...yet many people here feel he crossed a line and therefore should be banned..i respect that..

however, after reading the comments by rdhull made towards cborgman (regardless of any truce that followed) i have to come to the conclussion that rdhull was not honoring the what seems to be the underlying rule here to; "keep it friendly"...

yet icenine is banned and rdhull isnt? you can replace these two people with a mirad of others and it all comes down to consistancy..or lack there of of it...

please dont drag this debate to emotional responces..detach yourself from the non-virtual bond that you have formed and ask yourself, is this site consistent? and could that be the reason for so many of the problems here?

I agree totally, but some who don't agree tend to talk shit about him and others, and it's sickening. No one deserves the crap that RD and others were served earlier disbelief

Sorry for jackin the thread, man.

But seriously, I see where you're comin from and I truly respect your statement as well. I'm not "dismissin" your statement (after all, it is your thread) and I'm not takin sides, I was just statin my own feelings, too. Excuuusez moi.

True, you've never disrespected anyone as far as I've seen, and I admire ya for it.

As far as RD's comments to Chris were concerned, I wasn't too keen on that, either. But lettin all those people come back?? I say let them stay where they are. But I do think they need to drop Matt and add more mods, at least 5 or six more.

There. I've read it, I've said it

Happy now?

"Knee-jerk reaction"? I've kept my cool and continued to moderate as usual, despite being targeted with lies, unwarranted personal attacks, etc.

Teacher

I mentioned this on an earlier thread, that there should be WAY more moderators than there are. That virtually eliminates the "pitting of moderators against each other" that's Matt's basic food staple in these arguments.

I agree with everything u say but 1 thing: I think that the site is better off without the banned people, because what they did is way beyond stupid or unthinking, it's despicable and ugly. I'll see your letting banned orgers return and raise with IP banning instead of account banning wink

Great thread, and thanks for keeping it going, as long as it's allowed to worship

Hi kee wave

Interesting suggestions... I always like to see the old school orgers contribute cause sometimes the new schoolers need to be whipped into shape.

I agree on getting more mods - that much I think (and hope) ben is currently working on. I'm also hoping that ben will allow the people of the org to allow some input on some of the candidates for mods before making it official. Yeah Dansa, this place ain't a democracy, but kee is right - you gotta take our feelings and thoughts into account to make this place work.

Dunno about letting back banned orgers, only because I've had serious issues with one particular orger who was banned a few months ago. The issues concerned my safety, so I would not like to see them return in any shape or form.

More thoughts later, perhaps!
