I know that it's been asked for before, but I'd really like to see a reviews forum here at the org. Not strictly for Prince's music and movies (although I'm sure that they would kind of dominate) but we could post movie and book reviews there also!
C'mon- you let them have a sex forum, let's give something back to the Prince fans at prince.org and get a review forum going! You could even kill 2 birds with one stone and let musicians post chords and tab to Prince songs (own interpretations) in there so the musicians will finally get a place to refer people to when asked about what chords Purple Rain uses!

I'd like to see that too. I may not be the greatest writer in the world, but I'd sure try. And you know those kinds of posts usually get a lot of responses and good debate.

Won't that weaken the Prince music & more forum, though? That was the mistake with making the sex forum... undermined the purpose of the GD...

all of the things mentioned to be included in this proposed new forum are covered in Prince: Music & More, Org Musicians hang-out, Music: Non-Prince, and General Discussion.

We'd need to trim the current number of forums first though. We're spreading things a bit thin as it is.

cut the 2 celly forums and combine the concerts forum with the p music and more forum and Bob's your uncle!

Put the two Celebration forums and Fan Gatherings into Concerts forum.

Add a Reviews forum.

Get rid of Sex, Lies & Rubbish forum.
Get rid of Politics and Religion forum.

If you really seriously are online to discuss Sex, Politics, or Religion, why would you go to a Prince appreciation site to do so? I think they're both a waste of space and have nothing to do with the purpose of this site.

Our view is that there is more to life than Prince, and more to talk about than Prince. Fact is, the regulars who post here frequently want to talk about more than just Prince, so the website has grown to meet the needs / demands of the community. I've always felt that the online community is bigger than just Prince and his music.

You are correct in that if someone came onto the net and purely wanted to discuss politics, Prince.org wouldn't be the first place they'd go to. However, the point is that the people that do come here regularly because of their shared interest in Prince's music, actually want to talk about more than just Prince.

I feel the P&R forum has been a successful example of that.
The "romance" forum has yet to be proven of course... but it is what our members asked for.

With Prince.org we've tried to create a "community" rather than a "fansite". We've tried to grow to meet the demands of the community. Not entirely successfully, but if we decided tomorrow to axe all non-Prince related forums, a lot of our members would be very upset. The popularity of the "General Discussion" and "Politics and Religion" forums says it all. People come here initially because they like Prince, but once they get here they find that the topic of Prince and his albums only sustains a limited amount of interesting discussion.

If you remember the original Prince.org website years ago - the focus was solely on Prince. But the people on the site clearly wanted to talk about more than just Prince, and so every Princely news discussion thread veered wildly off-topic. The new site came about to meet that demand.
