Everytime I access the org, Acrobat Reader accesses itself!

What the hell is happening!?!?!

It doesn't happen with any other site, but for some unknown reason reader loads itself when I access the org! It only happens the first time I access, after having just connected.

Any IT gods/spods here know what's up?

Pisses me and my computers memory off no end!

Have you tried distracting your PC when you access the org? Point across the room and say "hey, look over there!" or something like that and see if that works.

I'm no expert but surely worth a try?

You know, this has been happening to me for about a month now, and I wasn't going to say anything because I thought my browser was flaking out on me. It's only on the home page.

Something on the home page might have an ambiguous MIME-type...?

Wowa, I'm so glad I'm not the only person!

I gotta say that the last couple of times it hasn't happened...but I'll wait and see.

It's still happening to me on the home page...not every time, but if I try to scroll down too quickly while it's loading.

Ah, it just happened for me again. Very strange! There's gotta be some others out there that suffer from the same problem! We should set up a self-help community workshop! lol

Essence

Same here, for the last month or so. Those who don't have AR surely access this site with no problems though so rather than needing it something about the P.Org homepage temporarily triggers it is all.

Ok, there are several of us with the problem it seems...

IE sometimes picks the wrong app when it doesn't know what to do with a certain data-type--it could launch the Acrobat viewer on this hunch, but I don't see anything fishy in the html...odd...

Ben, what did you change on the home page recently?

I specificially remember it first happening when there was a news posting about a month ago with a good 2 dozen thumbnails of concert pics appear on the home page.

Damn right that's when it happened! I remember now! It's not like it's a serious problem for me but it'd be interesting to find out what is triggering it...if not stop that crafty mofo from rearing it's ugly head everytime I get some chill time on the org, especially as acrobat reminds me of work lol

Used to happen to me too. Strange thing is, it seems to have cleared itself up (no creams or ointments needed).

BUT the missus says it's been happening to her - and she looks at websites that AREN'T the .org (crazy huh?) - so we're not alone.

makes me wonder if a recent IE patch did this...and yet I've not noticed it on any other sites...hmm

That's really freaking bizarre. What are you people doing to your browsers?!

This is strange. I'm working on a new homepage design (not much different aesthetically, but a lot different technically), so that may help. I'd love to know what's causing this, though... I've never seen that happen.

What browser are you guys using? All IE? Serves you right, go get Firebird smile hahaha.

OK, any more ideas about what might be the problem, let me know... I'll think on it a bit...

It happens on the wife's computer running XP, and only on IE - doesn't happen when I use Opera.

When I use my computer running W97, no problems, IE or not.

Ah, BUT...

my work computer is also XP/IE...but NEVER has this problem!

The work XP would be updated regularly, whereas with the home XP I'm on modem so's I've fallen behind on some of the updates.
