Founder | Few changes to the site (read if you're having problems) I just released a semi-large batch of changes to the site's code.
- "Prettier" URLs for messages and events... much shorter, and even vaguely readable. This will help with Google searches, too. - fix user profile links to be usable without javascript - signature in posts is offset by line via CSS - quoted passages are displayed more space-efficiently - a couple tiny bugfixes, and - some minor moderation-tool tweaks I've still got at least 3 more "big" features I'd like to go live with, but are either only partly complete, or need a lot more testing, so they'll wait a while. If you encounter any problems, please let me know via this thread. Especially with navigating/posting messages or events. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

Founder | By the way, I just figured out why the site was slow--the ISP made a hardware change (negative change) and didn't alert me. It's been this way for 10 days! I am talking to them about it, but it might not be fixed for another day or two. Sigh. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

Way ta go, Ben!!
So with the new Quote feature, this will cut down on long wave-shaped posts where people are quoting people who are quoting people who are quoting people? I noticed this function is different now...

it's not clear to me exactly how that would work... you mean have it delete the inner quotes? please explain... and maybe you can get rid of that separator line thingy in your sig now sosgemini ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

The quote boxes are not showing up in my browswer. Just the text, but no separators. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

I'm actually trying to do this...and yeah, the idea is to delete anything inside of quotes that are nested more than 1-2 levels deep (I'm going with 2). Maybe put the word (snip) on the inside. Posters are just lazy...more often than not, they just hit reply and start typing... I couldn't figure out how to do it with regular expressions, so I'm stuck with a left and right scan of the string for [ quote] and [ /quote] working my way inward. Fear is the mind-killer.

Am not happy with the new quoting... is it possible to add quote marks to the quotes?
So it becomes: roverlo:" someone: roverlo: text text text" At least you know where the quote ends?!

don't like the new quote feature... AT ALL. hard to differentiate who's saying what in multiple quotes within quotes.

but should you even have more then one quote? i always found that far more confusing when there was the whole someone said: someone said: someone said: someone said: someonelse said: that was just (if not more) annoying Space for sale...

Basically when you quote someone, the quote should appear in a blue box. Perhaps your colour-depth on your PC is turned down too low or something?

When I click on page 2 in General Discussions Forum, I end up back at the main Forums page? Am I drunk? Or is there something on page 2 you don't want me to see?
