What purpose does locking the threads achieve? All it does it make this site more pro-moderation.

Suggestion 4 Ben: Why not just move certain threads to a forum called "Controversy" so matters of C O N T R O V E R S Y can be discussed instead of locking them?

When you go outside, do you complain to the sky when it rains, when its not blue like u'd like it to be?

Theres alot to discuss in this life. But I guess controversy isn't one of them anymore here. Sheesh!

Locking threads allows us to halt a discussion that has become problematic. In general we prefer to lock the thread (so the posts people have contributed remain visible) rather than simply removing them.

This site is moderated. It has to be, really, in order to service such a large number of people each day. A vital part of moderation is locking threads that have gone out of control - this includes flame wars, racist comments, or a thread that has veered completely off-topic. Overall, locking threads benefits the site and the discussion on it.

There will be times when you disagree with a decision to lock a thread, but we can't please everyone.

However, remember that Prince.org isn't obliged to publish and provide web-space and bandwidth for every possible "controversial" thread you might want to post on. Our site rules make clear what is acceptable and what isn't - and stuff we deem unacceptable frequently gets locked or removed. Sounds fair to me...

I think this thread should be locked. Otherwise, you'll get the likes of me posting for no real reason.
