I'd like to change my user name but can't find an option to do so. Is it possible or does a mod have to change it for me?

There is no feature to change ones user name. Never has been.

You have to delete your current account. And then create a new account. Any avatar submitted will have to be approved by a mod.

You will then have to wait 5 days before you can post and 5 days before you can chat in the chat room.

It must be possible, Militant just had his name changed and kept his post history.

Casey Rain joined 1st June 2004 and has 10,688 posts? Really? If you click on posts in his history you find posts by Militant, so it's clearly the old account. It might not be something that's available to members but it's notn accurate to say that it isn't possible, even if it's only Ben that can do it.

Considering the ill feeling from a lot of members at the momeny, wouldn't it be better to just tell the truth? That it's technically possible but not going to happen.

Pretty sure that people would respect the honesty.

The militant account is dead. He is now using caseyrain.

Clearly Casey got a name change, not a new account. Militant's profile is gone, but the Casey profile links to posts that appear with Militant's name, and that were made before the change. Probably Ben made a change directly somehow. Doesn't seem significant to me, really... but it's obvious that it isn't a "new account." He's not starting over.

Amen. I really don't know why the moderators give false answers when the truth is quite obvious and moreover it has nothing to be hidden for.

No offence, but givcen the last few days and their history of how they moderate is it really that surprising?
