TBH the atmosphere on this thread (and others) regarding the situation is seriously becoming quite sick.

Upset as I am by the banning of my pal Kares, and regardless of how loud I believe we should ask for his (and Number23's) unbanning, this is turning into a moblynching.

I fail to see how what Casey does on Twitter and YouTube, or anything connected to his personality and behavior outside of his role as a moderator is relevant to the topic at hand.

And I also do not believe this is sending the right message to Ben and the other mods (or any fan considering joining the Org). If one wants to make a point of the fact that Casey abused his role as a moderator to bully fellow orgers, is bullying back an appropriate way to convince Ben that our demands are legit? What may actually happen is Ben shrugging at our demands because we behave like a bunch of bullies ourselves.

What's coming next? Attacks on Casey's physical appearance? Dissing his music? Racist attacks about his South-Asian origins? Seriously guys, can't we show some dignity?

I'm sorry, I've never been comfortable with online moblynching and that whole "cancel culture". This is about Casey's practices as a mod and the unfair banning of 2 valuable members of this board, not about how good or bad a person Casey is beyond this.

If you wish Kares and Number23 to be unbanned, say it. I certainly do. If you wish Casey to lose his mod status, I guess it's also OK to ask for this. Anything beyond this is just as abusive as Casey banning people because they contradicted him.

Best spare yourself the effort of e-mailing or orgnoting the mods (or Ben). The one time I was 'snipped' (in 20 years time of daily visits) I took the effort to write a complaint (accompanied by screenshots) to Ben by e-mail a few months ago about the moderating of one of the mods here, but there was 'NoLuv4Me', I didn't get a reply.

I didn't get a reply from said moderator either when I sent him/her an orgnote with my complaint (before e-mailing Ben). Said moderator not only deleted my comment about the moderating style on Prince.org, but replaced it with the 'forum rules' and didn't add the usual red 'snipped' comment. The next post in that thread was someone quoting said post, making fun of me because he/she thought I was sucking it up to the mods. I felt so insulted, I was livid! mad

They say 'take it up with the mods in PM' but in reality I found they just ignore you. I am really quite sad of what this place has become in recent years. I do realise that hosting this site is a favor and I thank Ben for that, and I don't really mind him not replying to my e-mail for that reason. Also I realise that moderating this site is not a thankful job. Still I hope some of the mods will be addressed firmly by Ben (or replaced if that doesn't help).

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

this is true

i've had some more RUDE jokes typed up but decided to not post them at the last minute, thinking that i'm going a little hard. i still want the two unbanned and casey stripped of his mod powers and i also want him to just own up to the fact that it was a mistake and he's sorry instead of whatever tone deaf nonsense non-apology he posted a few days ago.

i literally have nothing else of importance going on in my life so it's the perfect breeding ground for being a clever asshole about casey rain. it's quite a sad life, really.

That's what we are asking.

Casey has abused his powers without question, and this was all due to the fact he didn't agree with someone about the sound quality? ... Tbh based on what Casey has shown all of us from his own actions and braggadocious personality, the real reason behind banning them wasn't because they violeted forum rules, it's more evident he took offense that someone for the first time was telling the great Casey Rain with all the exclusives that he was wrong, and this time he was the one that did not acquire any exclusive products from the estate or get a first listen.

Very good posts ^

IMO, it's easy to go after someone because they do not possess a personality or persona to your liking (and we all do it) but for the sake of this forum and topic, we need to keep it focused on bad moderation and abuse of that mod 'power' on this site. Bad moderation over a long period of time that culminates in a moderation decision can tip the scales too far will demoralize and anger many who like participating on this site and appreciate the contributions that everyone makes with information and opinions. Respect for the site and for the rules goes a long way if everyone complies, and that especially includes the moderators.

While I agree with some of what you said in your post, I'll kindly disagree with this point.

His behaviour in all these external places point to a pattern of behaviour and a 'personality' which show precisely why he is unfit to be a moderator here (or anywhere else for that matter).

for example, if he was a convicted murderer, would your argument would be, well he never murdered anyone on the org so he is the perfect person to be a mod here?

Yes, these bans are obviously just his petty revenge that anyone DARE challenged him in a public forum, he is possibly the most unfit person who could possibly be a moderator of a public forum such as this.

No offense, but this is a bad argument. Being a convicted murderer doesn't have anything to do with being a mod. If I found out that luv4u (just an example) was typing from Rikers, it wouldn't make an ounce of difference in my opinion about her moderation. Hell being in prison might even give a mod more time to focus on the problems here.

With CR it's more complicated, because he uses the org - and has used orgers - to build his own, offsite brand: It's there in his Twitter bio, etc -- he's literally out there repping the site. He's bound to get some criticism about his activiites outside the org because he presents himself as a public figure. The dude clearly wants to be famous, and is drawing on the community of Prince fans to do that. What does he get out of being an org mod? Some semblance of credibility, I guess.

Now a lot of the org are asking the opposite - what is the org getting out of CR? i can only speak personally: he may know his stuff but he's never bothered to answer any of my questions, even when I've asked him directly and politely. His participation here seems like an afterthought to his primary efforts at self-promotion, except where those efforts backfire spectaculary and he has to resort to kicking out orgers to clean the mess.

This has nothing to do with "cancel culture" or attacking a person's race, origins etc. (I think databank's "what's next?" comment was a little disingenuous -- literally no one brought those things up until he did.) That said, I agree that personal attacks are out of line.

So, yes:CR's offsite behavior is somewhat relevent, insofar as it has involved the org and org members. Beyond that, couldn't care less about what he does.

That's a conflict of interest. Most employers don't want you working for them and the competition at the same time because it compromises loyalty.
