Is this still a rule in P&R?

READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST IN P&R

There has been a new rule in P&R for several months now, put in place by the site owner.

One last thing: PLEASE do not copy articles verbatim from other sites or post videos without comment! If you want to quote something or post a video, fine... say where it comes from, provide a link, and also provide ANALYSIS and INSIGHT of your own. We're here to discuss and debate ideas we actually hold. So make your opinion clear, and remember to do so with civility.

It's a legit question.

That is when CREATING a thread so people are not just posting whatever.
Once the topic ie thread is established everything else should be on topic, to contribute and assist with the topic. There is a huge difference in posting to troll/flame and posting to assist the topic, no matter the forum.

.

#3.In general, post if you have something to say. If you want to start a new thread, make it worthwhile. Don't be lazy and give a 1-sentence "what do you think about X?". At least explain your position, why, etc... make it interesting to read; you're more likely to get quality responses.
.
If someone posts a thread on Purple Rain, the OP establishes the thread whether it is just their opinion/thoughts or an image or an article. Once that is established, members can post on topic, interiviews, articles, clippings, photos thought/opinions etc to contribute and help the topic along.

.

There are a lot of articles and news pieces out there we don't want a flood of new threads
#5 Don't create new threads when an existing one will do.
.
Before I was a Mod and after, I asked the team for clarity myself. Which I always asked the Mods as I learned the culture of the forum.
.
Got it?
.
and remember to do so with civility.
+
A good general rule: "criticize ideas, not people."

^ this is a part of the rule too and I hope you/everyones takes it to heart as well

I do try to be civil nod but you well know that rule is not always followed by those that post to me.

When creating a thread, not commenting... ok. So when just an article is posted, it should be assumed that the poster agrees with the content of said article if no commentary accompanies it. Got it.

Well, the civil rule is all around. Let's keep that on the real. The ganging up and such is not civil.
But that's a whoooole other topic and we know people tend to do the opposite of ""criticize ideas, not people."

.
No it should not be assumed that the poster agrees with the content.

It's not always that black and white.
I don't care for Beyonce. There is a thread about Black Is King, I've stated that point that I don't get her, BUT I've posted articles to help the thread along. I've always done this. I've posted two opposing thought articles in the same topic. I always do. I also play devils advocate to push thinking out of the box at times. When you get a thread where everyone 'agrees' and pat each other on the back, sometimes critical thinking is stumped, and not challenged.
Too many people come to P&R to fight and push their way of thinking. So that fuels that forum in a way it doesn't others.
.
I've created Prince era threads on albums I didn't like or didn't really get. But I went full on into presenting all I could to look at it, and for those who did like it to enjoy, and for the rest of us to maybe see something we missed/find something new or just conclude we just didn't like it.
